I'm at my wits' end! One of my cats has been urinating on my carpet. I
don't know which one, and the really bad thing is that it must be just a
little, because I can never find the spot. I can sure smell it, though!
It was confined to one part of the living room. I had the carpet
cleaned, and for a few days everything was fine. Then it started again,
but now there are three spots where I often smell it. I have F.O.N.,
which is wonderful, but I'm going through it at an alarming rate. Does
anybody have any suggestions?

Black light to find the spots (be warned this can show up more than urine,
but will help). Hope you find out who and can get a check up.

And if the black light doesn't help with that, find something really day-glo
to hang on your wall. Put some of the old rock music we've been discussing
recently on the stereo. Have a drink, smoke some weed, kick back and say
"oh, wow". Then try to figure out the lyrics :D
Seriously, to the OP: the black light will help identify the spot. The
problem is, identifying the cat. I'd take all three to the vet to rule out
UTI.

Thanks. I'll try the black light. You may have the answer, though -
maybe it's that third cat I don't know I have. <G>

ROFL sorry about that!

No problem. I mentioned three locations on the carpet, and you probably
got the "three" from that. Incidentally, the frustration continues. I
went to a pet store and rented a black light today. I brought it home,
plugged it in, and turned it on - and it doesn't work! Now I have to
take it back and (presumably) get another one. I think I'll ask to test
it before I leave the store this time.

Thanks, Karen. A black light sounds like a good start.

"Yoj" <jgaylord3@earthlink.net> had some very interesting things to
say about Brat cats:

Try a black light to find the offending area?

Hi Joy,
Unfortunately, I can really identify with your problem! I did order this
product (see below link) and it does work well; however, it has an odor in
itself and by now I'm pretty sick of it and have gone back to the Petzyme
stuff. We just have recurrent issues in our house with Tucker being here
and Midnight will "mark" (i.e., spray) when she gets irked.

Thanks. I had never heard of this product. Many years ago my vet
recommended F.O.N., which he carried. Eventually he stopped carrying
it, but I found some a year or so ago, either on line or in a mail order
catalog, and ordered several bottles. It comes in a spray bottle, and
has a fairly light odor which dissipates almost immediately, along with
neutralizing the odor or the urine. F.O.N. stands for feline odor
neutralizer. My big problem is that, since I don't know exactly where
the spots are, I find myself spraying large sections of the carpet. I'm
going to rent a black light, as others have suggested, and see if I can
find the spots.
