My foster babies went in for surgery Monday. As with any surgery, be it
human or animal, regardless of age, sometimes they don't make it. Sadly,
Sam, one of my fosters did not make it. I had to go to the shelter
yesterday and identify the remaining white kitten. Yurtle was to be adopted
by a girl named Erin, who was to get him yesterday after 6:00. I had to get
there before she did to make sure it wasn't Yurtle that had passed away
(Yurtle and Sam were both white, it was hard for shelter to tell them
apart).
I am happy to say it wasn't Yurtle, but equally sad that it was Sam. Poor
guy always frightened easily. His first few days here all he did was shake,
made me feel so bad for him. He never did warm up to people, but he did
enjoy being petted every once in a while. Is it possible that he could have
been scared to death?
It happens from time to time, this is the first foster (and hopefully last)
that I have lost. So please say a little prayer for Sam and hope that he's
at the bridge and not scared anymore.
Thanks

JoJo, I'm so sorry. Sometimes it seems even harder to lose a foster kitten
than it does to lose a cat of your own. I hope that Yurtle has a long and
happy life with his new family though.

Poor little thing. He just wasn't meant to stay with us. Don't feel bad. You're
doing a wonderful thing. Focus on the ones you've saved. I"m so sorry he didn't
make it.

Sorry to hear that Sam didn't survive the surgery. You're right, it
DOES happen, but it's always heartbreaking. Sending purrs for the
little one's journey to the RB.
Purrs that Yertle is happy in his new home.

I'm so sorry that Sam did not make it through the surgery. Because he was
so shy, he was incredibly lucky to have spent his life in a loving home with
you. Please take comfort in knowing that you made his short time on earth
much better than it could have been.
Cinder and Rosie are sending purrs for Sam's trip to the bridge, and for
Yurtle, who will soon be in his new home. You and they are in my thoughts
and prayers.
Hugs,
Annie

Thank all of you for the kind thoughts and for the purrs and prayers. My
little guy is in a better place. On the bright side, I brought home his
brother Max whom I could not part with - polar oposite of Sam - this little
guy LOVES to be held.
I have two more fosters I have here, I will try to post pics soon so you can
all see. And hopefully a good one of Max as well.
Thank you all again for your support!

Poor little Sam. I'm sure he's warm and happy at the Bridge, with lots
of other kittens to play with. There's nothing to scare him anymore.
Having had a white kitten, who grew to be the most wonderful companion
for 18 years (My RB kitty, Blizzard) I have a special fondness for white
kittens and cats. Especially the kittens, of course.
I'm sure little Sam passed while under the anaesthesia, and felt no pain
or fear. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
