There is a beautiful photo series tribute to a lovely cat named Puma on
alt.binaries.picutures.animals. I urge you all to go see what a lovely and
loved cat he was. A sad day for many people today. My thoughts go out to
all.

It is truly heartbreaking... my heart goes out to Rick and I'm sitting here
crying my eyes out.  Persia is looking at me like, what's wrong Jie?  Uh, I
cannot stand the thought of losing you too, baby kitty?  Hugs to everyone.

Puma is dead? What happened Karen? I don't go to abpa. This is really sad, I
love the Puma pictures, and I've given the link to his pics to so many other
cat lovers in the past. :(

Apparently he has had kidney failure for a while but this spring he had some
respritory problems and this week it got really bad. Rick got him to the
vet, but Puma didn't even make it in to see the doctor. I feel so bad for
him.

I haven't been able to figure out a way to access this newsgroup without
paying. It's not in Google's list of groups. Any suggestions of sites that
might have it (non-paying only)?

Thanks,
Joyce

I know that the German news.individual.net doesn't carry it, as they
don't have any binary groups, but how about your own ISP? Then you'd
need a newsreader or mail- and newsreader.

Or how about these:
http://www.usenet-replayer.com/groups/index.en.html.gz
You'll have to scroll down for abpa.
Not sure if they're in real time or if there's a slight delay before
pics turn up here, but it's free.

A lot of them *are* there!  Not the ones he's posted today (and oh my there
is an incredible photo of his mother and Puma looking out a window together.
I mean he could be a magazine photographer.) but others from the last couple
of  days.

Oooo, Christine, thank you! I have tried individual.net and didn't have
any luck (as you said, it doesn't carry a.b.p.a). But I just went to
usenet-replayer, and they have everything!! So now I can see abpa, hooray!

Thank you,

Joyce

I know you said you don't go to abpa, but you might want to check it out
this time if you have access to the newsgroup.  Rick has posted a gorgeous
series of pictures of Puma.

They are lovely, and he was a lovely cat. I especially like the "Paws"
picture.

Me too. I have some "paws" pictures of Pearl, but they aren't as good as
his.

Question: are the photos of Puma labeled as "Puma"? Because when I went
there, I saw a bunch of photos of a big striped cat that were posted by
"onward (at) cableone (dot) net", but the captions didn't have the cat's
name. One of the photos did say "In Memorium Beyond", so I thought these
might be of Puma.

Yes, the "In Memorium" pictures are Puma, but most of the sequence are
labeled with descriptive titles like "In the Yard," "Paws," and "Mug." Look
for Rick Hopson's name as the photographer, and those will be pictures of
Puma.  Most of his appear as attachments instead of embedded in the message.

Correction!  Look for photos by Rick Hobson (not Hopson).

Well, he was a beautiful cat - love those big striped beauties.
