Tomorrow is the big day, Yertle, Max and Sam go back to the shelter to go up
for adoption. You may remember Yertle - the little guy that my dog bit on
the face. He's been doing quite well and has started nibbling on dry food,
but primarily eats canned.
Before the whole dog incident happened, a girl came over to look at the
group, she wanted to adopt one. She was partial to Yertle from the start.
She has a dog and her former room-mate had a cat - the dog and cat were best
of friends. Well her roomie moved out and took the cat with her, so Erin
wanted to get another cat for the dog.
Then came the dog bite - obviously it was a concern how Yertle would react
to dogs now that he had been bitten. Erin came by to look at the kittens
again, and Yertle showed no fear of any of my dogs. That kind of sealed the
deal for her.
Since the big day is here, we decided it would be best to let her dog and
Yertle meet prior to adoption. This way we can assure the shelter there
would not be a problem. The meeting went beautifully. The dog was thrilled
with Yertle - Yertle took it all in stride, he was more interested in
investigating new surroundings than the dog. He never hissed or growled at
the dog in the two hours we were there. At one point Yertle decided he had
enough investigating and curled up on a chair to go to sleep. The dog
jumped right up on the chair and curled up next to Yertle. Yertle just
swiped at the dogs paw, then went back to sleep.
What a HUGE relief. Now the only hurdle is for the shelter to approve the
adoption, and I don't see a problem with that. Now for more news - Max has
a 99% chance of having a home as well - MINE! I can't bear to part with
him, he's such a little lover.
The other fosters I have were to go up for adoption on thursday, but one
came down w/UTI - guess they didn't want to leave! We have started
antibiotics and knock on wood, nobody else seems to be sick. We'll try
again this Thursday.

And congrats on keeping Max, too!

Yertle-- nerves of steel. What a great little guy. Best of luck to
all of you.

Great news about the pending adoptions. One reason I'll never be a
foster is that I'd end up never taking any back, and I'm already over
the limit on cats with Rocky. Many many thanks to those of you who do
the fostering/socialization which allows cats and hoomins to find each
other and enrich each others lives.

Purrs coming for quick complete recovery, and for these guys and gals
to get to their people soon, as well.

That is the bad thing about fostering - you want to keep them all! I just
discovered the one shelter upped their adoption fees for kittens, used to be
$60, now is $100 - ouch. That in itself will be a deterent for me - after I
get Max. I may or may not get a discount, I'll find out on Tuesday.
Regardless, I'm committed to Max now.
I would like to point out Max is an attention hound - anytime you tried to
open the cage door, he was ready to make a suicide leap to get out. Then I
was holding him, he's trying to get attention of another woman. God I just
love him. I promise no more cats! I hearby solemly swear it!

We've heard that before though :D

Hi Connie! Honestly, I mean it, no more. There's only one way I would get
another cat now - if I lost one, which hopefully won't happen for a while.
Besides I asked you to talk me out of it didn't I? (as if it would have
worked! :))

Good luck on everything, glad Yertle found his very own dog and that
everybody else is fine. Hope the UTI clears up soon. You are a good foster
mama.

Awww, good for Yertle. I'm sure the adoption will be approved and he will
soon be master of his very own dog.
Good news for Max, too. Sometimes you come across one of those especially
special ones, and they steal your heart.
I'll ask Rosie and Cinder to start the purr engines to send healing vibes to
the sick ones.

The story of Yertle is as wonderful as a fairy tale. I love happy
endings.

Glad to hear all the good news. And lucky Max! Maybe lucky isn't the world,
he's smart to have wheedled his way into your heart. ;o) Congrats all
around, and purrs for the kittens' UTI to clear up soon.
