Update on the long lost Bridget

Hi Everybody,

Sorry I haven't been posting.  Last fall that virus thing came through
and inundated my computer and drove me so nuts that I couldn't stand it
so I just read for a while.  It has only been just lately that I have
been brave enough to post again.  And no viruses!!!  YAY!!!!!!  Anyway,
that's my excuse.

On to the update....  after a long winter of asthma, I am finally doing
well.  Tony and the Stripey Thing have never been better.  It looks like
I may have a love life, but, this is the internet, so I'm not about to
talk about it here!!!  At this very moment, I can't think of any of the
really funny things the brats have been doing - and they do their share.
But since the virus isn't ever present anymore, I will post more often
about them.

And now Grace can take a chill pill. :)

Oh yeah, my dad is doing okay for now too.  He was really sick over
Easter, but is doing much better.  And his cat Charlie has won over the
nursing home.  I understand there is some question as to whether I will
even find Charlie there when my father finally dies as someone may have
already spirited him away for their own.  I hope there is some truth to
that because I don't need a third cat!!  But Charlie is the sweetest
thing.  He rolls over in the middle of the floor when anyone comes in
expecting his tummy to be rubbed.  It is something like the price of
admission to the room. And the next time that cat needs shots, I am not
going to take him because he wouldn't come within 20 feet of me for 3
months afterwards.  Talk about grudges.

Thanks for caring everyone.

That's *amazing* that you found a nursing home that permits pets.  None of
the nursing homes around here will do that.  My mother is in a nursing home,
and a local group sometimes (but rarely) brings in a couple of pets to visit
the patients, but that's the extent of it.  Does Charlie stay in your
father's room, or is he permitted to roam around the facility?

Yup, Charlie stays in my Dad's room.  Never really even tries to leave
it even if the door is open.  There is a cat that already has the run of
the facility - Rusty.  He isn't as cuddly as Charlie, but he's a nice
enough cat.

As for the nursing home letting my father have a cat - it has been
wonderful for my father.  I truly believe it has given my father a
quality of life these last two years he wouldn't have otherwise had.  He
loves that cat with all his heart and soul.

That's so incredibly sweet, and wonderful for him (and for Charlie). It
brings tears to my eyes, thinking about how important the connection is
between humans and animal companions. And also for the people who don't
get to have that because they live in a facility that doesn't allow pets.
Some elderly people even live in apartment buildings that don't allow
animals - I think that's criminal!! Your dad is very lucky.

Welcome back, Bridget - I hope you'll stay in touch. I've been wondering
about you.

Welcome back, and glad to hear everything is going as well as things
can in RL.

I know hear what you said about Charley holding grudges, as Rocky was
the same way. I kind of dread the time when it will be time for his
updates. Back when he was still feral I managed to catch him and haul
him off to TED a couple times when he needed treatment after fights,
and he'd diasappear for days. I was sure surprised when, after his
snip job and being boarded for three nights he forgave me as soon as I
picked him up and brought him home.

Course, maybe he forgave me that time because I had found him a new
home, and he was doing his best to convince me that this is where he
wanted to be.

Thanks for the update Bridget.  We'd been wondering and worrying about
you and your dad.  Glad that Tony and George are doing well and that
Charlie has taken control of the nursing home.  I bet your dad doesn't
get lonely between Charlie and the nursing staff.

Also glad that you may have a romance happening.  We all need love and
you have more than earned your share.  Take care and please don't be
such a stranger.

But isn't the internet specifically designed to let people not only talk
about their love life, but improve on it or even get one! At least it
seems that way with all the spam I get about viagra and singles
websites... :)
