I think so. I've never actually read his column, but I read the book I
mentioned. Tom interviewed him for his show last year, he's very
articulate and very funny.

Yup, that's the one.

Yeah, and he makes fun of him a lot.

The book's subtitle is "The 7 deadly sins and the pursuit of happiness
in America". He goes through the 7 deadly sins of the catholic faith and
tries to engage in all of them. I said tries because there was one he
couldn't quite do: lust. His argument for that is very funny, it goes
something like this. He has a boyfriend, so the boyfriend is not happy
about the chapter on lust, but Fred says he has to be truthful to his
readers. So he calls a baptist 800-number (one of those prayer lines or
something) to figure out if he can commit adultery. The person on the
other line tells him that his relationship is not recognized by god, so
he's not capable of adultery. Sodomy yes, adultery no. It's really
funny, you have to read it. :)

Hmm... I guess Dan wasn't planning to practice it on the bf?

One of those loopholes of homophobia, I guess! :)
