We have a little catnip plant in a pot. The one we planted last year got smothered by a neighborhood cat, so we put this one on the deck, where we don't usually get feline visitors. I grabed one leaf of it today, rubbed in on my fingers and approached the cat enclosure. Maya started yowling real loud when I was still a good 5 feet away. All the cats that were out came running towards me and started going bonkers rubbing againts my hand. I decided to harvest a few more leaves and bring them inside. I rubbed three leaves on their scratching posts and they went nuts! I'm sad to report that Rufous seems to be a mean drunk. He always fights with his brother after a catnip dose. We always warn each other around here when we know one of the cats has indulged. We tend to play fairly rough with the cats and they don't bite or claw hard unless they are high.
