Yes, and those little kitten claws do get stuck to your clothes, don't they?
Hard to get them off.

TJ, I did the same thing after Frodo passed, I was needy and missed having a
furball who needed me; went to the Humane Society, went to Petsmart and 3
weeks afterwards came home with Omar.
Good luck!

Hope you find the purrrfect kitty, and hope he can
can at least fit in the Dusts shoes, even if he can't fill them

Wow, it looks exactly the same.  They only had one kitten and she was a doll but
she was very frail and skittish.  My daughter and I played with her for awhile
and even though she was as cute as can be decided she was a bit to "nervous" for
us.   All of the other cats were older and most were sound asleep.  Must have
been nappy time.  Some were very vocal and banged against their cages so we of
course obliged with many pets.  Even though I want to get kittens there was this
sweet girl who was about 1 year old that caught my eye.  She has a beautiful
tortie, semi long hair coat with perky ears and jade green eyes. She was a
complete love bug to me but I noticed on her cage tag it said not good with
other cats, dogs or kids.  :(  I am sure she will get snagged up quickly.
Obviously a master looking for one slave to own with no other distractions.

After the Humane Society we went over to Petsmart because we were told all the
kittens were over there.  And they
were.  Lots of them.  One women with the Animal Rescue Foundation was there and
she was fostering many kittens that were going to be ready to go in a couple
weeks.  She had a litter in a cage there that were 6 weeks old and I just fell
in love!  I wasn't able to hold them (no touchy) but we watched them play for
about 20 minutes (then they conked out).  They look like little wild beasts.
Their coloring and stripes, spots and swirls and ears look just like a bobcat!
I filled out a profile and put a 'reserve" on 2 of them.  There were 3 girls and
1 boy.  Two have already been reserved.  This doesn't mean we will definitely be
getting them but when they are ready to be adopted we will be notified first to
go and see if they want us (and if they remain healthy)!  She also has 3 four
week old kitty's that she has hand raised since they were 3 days old and they
will be ready in 4 or 5 weeks.  I liked her a lot.  She seemed to be a very
responsible and very "by the book" in her fostering role.

Today we are going to go back to Petsmart for the big "adoptathon weekend" put
on through the Humane Society and all the other animal groups.  Many of the
other fostering/rescue groups were present yesterday and told me there kittens
would be there today.  They were "resting" yesterday because they were all
neutered/spayed on Thursday.  So who knows......  They did have two littermates
yesterday that were sweeties.  One had no tail (Manx) and the brother had a
tail.  One was fuzzy and one was not.  They were a hoot.  Only problem.... the
one with the tail looked EXACTLY like Dusty.  Down to the white fur splotch on
his hind leg.  His eyes, ears, mouth.....it was like looking at The Dust. I
hugged him and just cried.  More happy tears then sad, but I don't think I could
deal with a look-a-like.  Maybe he was just there to let me hug my flabulous
Dust one more time. :)

I will keep you posted on the status of my freedom as the story unfolds!

Begging you to reconsider the Manx duo. Manx (tail-less or otherwise) are
hoomin-centered, affectionate, mellow, quiet cats (Hops1 and Toopy both
Manx, Hops tail-less and Toopy was what is called a "stumpy" - inch-long
stump tail; a "rumpy" is the no-tail variety)
who kinda "hop" along instead of the smooth, gliding cat-type walk we know
well. One could look @ the Dust lookalike fellow in more than one way; could
he have been sent by someone you know well to take their place on earth with
you?

I know these are the breed characteristics, but Mike is a manx.  Mike
is in no way hoomin-centered, mellow, or quiet.  Affectionate, yes,
but in his own Mikely way.  My brother once said I should carry Mike
in a holster.   :-P

Continuing purrs and wishes for you to be discovered by two cats/kittens
who are willing to adopt you for their one true home.

Purrs that you'll find the purrfect one (or two) to bring home. I know
what you mean about not wanting a tiny carbon copy of the Dust. Some
people like the reminder of previous pets, though, and of course they
would have their own purrsonalities.

When my Marley went to the bridge, I was scouring the rescue websites for a
cat who looked just like him. I even signed up for "alerts" when a cat
matching his description became available for adoption. Instead, months
later I got Shamrock (while I was fostering instead of committing to more
heartache) and Shamrock looks nothing like Marley but is almost him
reincarnated in his actions and purrsonality.

Aww, they all sound so cute!  I can tell that you are going to be enslaved
again in no time :-)
I love the idea of the tailless one.  Even though Vino isn't a Manx, I just
have a soft spot of the goofy little monkey-butts.  And I always thought
that the Dust's colouring and mouth were the cutest, would be hard to resist
getting another one.  Who knows, maybe it is the Dust, re-incarnated???

Getting a fuzzy and non-fuzzy brother is highly recommended. :)

TJ how I understand that you didn't want to take
Dust's look-a-like home, that is the reason I have Wilson
I stipulated to the ones that wanted to buy me another Kitty when I was
ready *not* to get a white Burmese
as I could not have helped comparing it to Henri and that
would have been unfair to the cat, and too hard on my emotions, we Loved
them too much, and they were oh
so special!  Purrs that the *right* one will turn up

Excellent idea! Never can tell what interesting changes might have taken
place. And of course you'd need to see if they've changed anything in
the kitty room, huh?
