Annie left me a message on my cell, her hubby is currently in recover from
back surgery.  It went well.  I'll know more tomorrow, she'll be staying
w/him throughout the day and nite - and of course cell phones are a no-no in
hospitals.

Please continue sending purrs and prayers her way.  And can we also ask for
nice weather come Saturday (assuming hubby does well, which is first and
foremost on the list)?  Plans on taking her and daughter to zoo, she's not
used to spring in the burg :)  Can be cold to "foriegners" <smile>

She thanks all of you for thinking of her too!

Red alert: cell phones are *not* a no-no in my "heart center"
hospital.....only in areas where there are monitors attached to patients
(intensive care, cardiac care - probably her DH might be in one of these -
and the ER of course, with its many monitors. Patients and visitors are free
to use cell phones in non-patient areas of hospital, such as lobby, offices,
radiology, and other non-monitor places.

Probably different for different hospitals. I haven't worked in a
hospital since cells came into use, retired in 93. I did notice at
UCLA a couple years ago when my Dad had postrate surgery that there
were signs telling people to turn off cell phones at all the
entrances. And, while in the waiting room waiting for word on the
surgery, noticed that one of the other people was told by one of the
volunteers to stop using her cell and use a pay phone.

Hi,
The hospital in Pittsburgh only allowed cell phones in the lobby and other
designated areas.  I don't know about the other floors, but they were not
allowed to be turned on or used on the ward where they put my husband.
The alternative to using a cell phone would be to use the phone in the room
and pay the hospital charge to use it.
I went to the lobby to make calls to let people know what was going on. It's
possible that I did not know what Jim's room number was going to be when I
called and left the message that he was in the recovery room.

Continuing to send purrs. I mentioned sending weather purrs, but Sammy
says that the hoomins are supposed to take care of that. I think she's
upset because it was about 80 today and the forecast says we won't get
out of the 60s Saturday.

Purrs, purrs, and more purrs are on their way.  I hope Annie's DH
recovers well, and that you all have fun on Saturday!  :-)

Please pass on our healing purrs and prayers for Jim from his surgery.  And
purrs for Annie, too, as she must be equally stressed about now.
