Pippin plays peekaboo

One of baby Catherine's favorite games is peekaboo, especially when
played with the lime green flannel blanket we use to protect the
carpet from baby emissions and the baby from the dirty carpet.  The
blanket is about twice the size of a regular receiving blanket, but
not large enough to qualify as a "throw". Anyway, I sit Catherine on
the floor and sit facing her with the blanket between us.  I raise the
blanket up in the air, and let it parachute down (giggles) and let it
cover her (more giggles) or me (still more giggles) or both of us
together (uncontrollable giggles).

We had just started playing this game this weekend, when Pippin
decided to join in the fun. Naturally, he crawled right into the
middle of the blanket, making the parachute part impossible.  So, I
took the free end of the blanket and covered him up. "Where's kitty?"
I asked Catherine. <Squeal of delight>, she replied. I then uncovered
Pippin. "There he is!" Squeals! Pippin writhed around and paw-pounced
on part of the blanket. I repeated the process, sometimes leaving his
tail sticking out, sometimes his head.  He squirmed around and changed
shape appealingly under the blanket.  Catherine squeaked, squealed,
shrieked, giggled and clapped her hands. A good time was had by all.
Pippin, at 6, is a good big brother when he wants to be.

One of the stages of infant development is realizing that things
are still there when they are out of sight.  It seems that you have
made this into the best game possible.

So funny and cute. Scritches to Pippin for being such a good brother, and to
Catherine for being on the way to good catslavedom (babies like scritches,
don't they? ;).

That is just SO sweet, Caroline.  Catherine is learning and growing so
fast, isn't she.  Pippin is a good kitty brother, and Catherine has
already learned to adore him.
