I'm always talking about Wilson's Independance
the keeping of himself *to* himself, never sits next to me,
or even in my chair, even though he follows me everywhere,
waits for me, watches everything I do sometimes he'll sit
between my feet, and nights, when he thinks I'm asleep,
he'll make a nest in my legs, most uncomfortable for me
but I wouldn't dream of moving him, But tonight!!!
I got up from my chair after dinner{in front of the TV}
And when I turned to go back, there he was, *couldn't
believe it,* sitting in myyyyyy chair, It has very wide
fabric arms so I sat on the arm, 2 seconds and he made to
cross over the other arm to jump down, gently I pressed
his body down,so that he lay half on the arm, half on the
seat and sat beside him again, not comfy but I endured,
he stayed there, letting me stroke him, eventually closing his
eyes I stayed a while, then got up to come to my pc and
he moved back into the chair, unbelievably, he's still there
this may sound like a post about nothing spectacular, but
to me--- its absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!! Jean.P.

purrs that the progress continues--it's taken 4 years but Oreo has finally
decided to lie in my lap these days.

Congratulations, Jean, I understand what a big thing this is. Neither Frank
nor Nikki were lapcats for most of their lives, but lately (during the last
year or so), they have both mellowed out a bit. Frank will come into my lap
of his own, if only I'm sitting in the right chair. There's only one chair
where my lap is good enough for him. Nikki used to squirm away if I picked
her up, now she will stay and purr, and even lie down on my bosom and fall
asleep. She will also jump of on the footrest of her own free will and
settle down between my ankles.

I definitely understand. Mike's always been affectionate in his own
way, but it was more along the lines of wanting to be in the same
room, rather than wanting to be held or petted. It's a special thrill
when a cat like that suddenly wants a cuddle. Congratulations! :-)
