Hi....
I am actually here because I very much miss one Mr. John Biltz (and Maya and
Bruiser) and was hoping to find him (them) in these parts.

As for the rest....I am jointly owned by cats and dogs and horses (oh my!)

Horses: http://home.earthlink.net/~houseatsprucecircle/

Hmmm.... a lot of these links seem to have broken over the years, but
Sweetie Cat can be seen at the bottom of the page...
http://home.earthlink.net/~sixt4tbird/  Oh wait - old photos of Sweetie can
be found here:   http://hometown.aol.com/methosenchanted/index.html

And then... there is Joe Kitty.... old picture of Joe because I can't find
the newwer ones for some reason.... He's a 20lb. Maine Coon mix and
absolutely the least cat-like cat I have ever had.  We call him "The
Labrador".  I'll try to find the recent ones...
http://hometown.aol.com/sixt4tbird/page1.html

Anyway - Joe is really good at creating Cat Stories for me to tell.

Nice to meet you all!

I do!  I have even hugged him and had lunch with him and driven around Los
Angeles with him looking for floppy discs.

Is he around here anymore?

She was one of the people who gave me advice when Maya arrived on my

collection of newsgroup posts at Flippy's Cat Page.

I love your and Maya's story. I practically have it memorized and I think it
maybe should be part of a movie as well!

I don't know about a movie but it did make Maya quite a famous cat in one
newsgroup that was pretty big at the time.

IIRC, the famous last words were, "I don't want a cat.  If I am going to get
a pet it will be a dog.  I'm a dog person."

Maya wins!

My son gave me this stuffie tiger.
Joe Kitty claimed it.
For a long time it was a battle; Joe would steal it off my bed, and maul it
half to death, then I would find it in some odd location, and put it away.

A few months ago, Joe caught a cold.  So the big booger was blubbering
around the house having sneezing fits and generally looking miserable and
forlorn.  So I officially gave him the tiger.

When he's not grooming it, he is locked in mortal combat with it.  The way
he yowls and screams (imagine Arnold Schwartzenegger with a little high
pitched girly squeal) you'd think the tiger was going to put an end to Joe
at any moment.

TBird <---- come to think of it... where IS my tiger???

The question is....

Is this a *good* thing???

So far, in his ~24 months of life.... Joe has fallen into the bubble bath
filled tub several times, had his fuzzy butt kicked by a stuffed tiger,
cleaned my fiances eyebrows thoroughly enough in the middle of the night to
have a No Cat moratorium declared in our room at night, and generally made a
big fluffy nuisance of himself at all times.  (No, Joe, you may not get in
the silverware drawer.)  :-)

When this cat bumps you in the ankles you KNOW it.

What, for a little eyebrow cleaning?  Somebody needs to suck it up and
learn a little gratitude. :P

Well, ya know.... a little eyebrow cleaning would be one thing....
But Joe is 20lbs of clod...er cat.... He makes Dick Van Dyke look graceful.
And he never learned to sleep at night.  So the eyebrow cleaning happened
several times during the night, complete with my poor beloved man getting
stomped all over (Where does a 20 pound cat sit?  Anywhere he wants!), and
accompanied by purrs that would wake the dead.

TBird <----- if Joe would just clean eyebrows, then settle in and sleep at
night like every other cat I've ever had... no problem

Nice to meet you, too :)  I'm owned by Persia, a grey with green eyes
short-haired beauty who is probably a blend of Siamese and Russian Blue.
Sorry I don't have a web site (yet) but she's viewable at

           http://community.webshots.com/user/jmcquown

Sweetie is adorable and I suspect as much of a stinker as Persia is.  Joe is
absolutely a big fat loveable cat!  Love your horses, too.  I also have a
Nyasa Lovebird (small parrot) named Peaches.

Welcome to the group!

Thanks :)  She "found me" one day in January, 2001.  She literally yelled at
my back door, insisting I let her in.  Having never had a cat before, I was
rather reluctant.  But it was about 23F degrees outside and night was
falling and she wouldn't leave.  So, I opened the door and said okay, come
in here.  The rest, as they say, is history.

Thank you!
Sweetie and I played tag today.  She nearly chased me right down the stairs!
Instead we batted at each other through the rungs.  (She doesn't use claws
on me, she's a good girl!)
BTW, the new photos of Joe... the one of him sprawled in his usual (totally
undignified) position?  Each of those blue-grey tiles is a foot square.....
I used to have a photo of him sprawled next to my 6 year old son and they
were about the same size....

Hey TBird. I am here everyday, several times a day. I don't post
everyday. Glad to hear from you. Joe Kitty is certainly a big boy but we
knew that was going to happen. Isn't it strange how Maine Coons have such
a tiny high pitched voice, Bruiser is the same way. Turns out his father
must have been one because his mom sure did not look like Bruiser.

Yes yes!  The voice is hysterical.... he's so big, and when that stuffed
tiger attacks him.... squeals like a baby mouse, I tell ya!  (I think the
tiger is enacting revenge for Bullwinkle, myself.)

Bruise is just gorgeous... where's Maya???

Maya is fine and still beating up all the neighborhood cats. There is a
whole new crop of them this year.  I think it is sort of the old
gunfighter syndrome and all the young guns feel obligated to make a run
at her.  She is not as feisty as she used to be now that she is a few
years older. Bruiser runs around the place sure he is in charge of
everything.  Maya humors him most of the time until he goes too far and
informs him in no uncertain terms that she is the boss around here no
matter how big he has become.  They get along pretty well for the most
part. A good hiss from Maya is enough to settle things. I've never seen
them actually fight.  We all know who would win, Bruiser is crazy but not
that crazy.  He's a lover not a fighter. He has a best friend cat,
Matthew who is about his age and they play and run together.  Maya
tolerates Matthew because he makes Bruiser less of a pest.
