'nother storm here - guess I might as well stop posting about them
since they're be a regular thing this time of year. The weatherman
said the other night that the storms would probably start hitting a
little further west each day, and he was right this time. Last time we
just got brushed by the storm, a little lightning and about a tenth of
an inch of rain. Tonight it cut loose right on top of us. Lots of
thunder and lightning and flooded streets after 3-6 inches of rain.
Anyway, Sammy decided to be brave. She headed for her storm shelter a
good 30 minutes before I noticed the storm - under the bedspread
again. Once I realized she was gone I went in the bedroom and laid in
the bed again. She started purring as soon as I got there and told her
it was ok. Tonight she didn't wait for the storm to end before she was
out from under the covers. One reason might have been because Rocky
decided the bump under the covers was a gigantic bedmouse which needed
to be dispatched. He bopped the bump a couple times before I noticed
and stopped him.
Sammy went and dragged her fur-mouse on a stick toy over to play with
while the thunder was still sounding. Not her usual all out playing
style, she stopped to look around with every clap of thunder, but she
didn't go back into hiding.

Aww. What a brave girl. I hope she gets less afraid as time goes on.

Single-mindedness is all very well in cows or baboons; in an animal
claiming to belong to the same species as Shakespeare it is simply disgraceful.
