DH will have his spinal surgery Thursday, April 29, in Pittsburgh.
We will be gone almost a week, and Cinder and Rosie will receive twice-daily
visits from the cat sitter. I hope they will not be too upset that we will
be gone so long. If you get any strange posts from this computer, you'll
know who the prime suspects are.

Purrs, prayers, good vibrations, etc., would be very welcome for a
successful surgery and not too upset kitties.

One unexpected benefit is that one of our RPCA posters has offered to show
me around town that Saturday while Jim recuperates.  Details will follow
after we return home on Monday, May 3.

Thanks,
Annie, sending purrs and prayers in advance to anyone who needs them next
week.

Annie,

Sending lots of good, healing energy and loud healing purrs for DH,
your travels, and the kitties to be nice to you when you get back
home.  Hope all goes swimmingly well!

Thank you.  We will miss those kitty purrs that put us to sleep.  I'm sure
they will be as happy to see us as we will be to see them when we get back.

Thank you, Hopitus.  It took a lot of research to find this neurosurgeon who
will do a minimally invasive procedure, which will seem more like a day at
the beach than the conventional approach.  However, when someone's messing
with your spine, it makes you nervous.

Purrs and good vibes being sent, not only for the surgery to go well and the
cats to take it easy, but for you to enjoy your visit in spite of the
surgery.

Thank you.  One of our daughters will be joining us, so she and I will take
Saturday to see some of the town. Neither of us has been to Pittsburgh
before.  Fortunately, we'll have a guide who lives in the area.

Thanks, M.L.,
I'm sure the kitties will be happier at home, but we'll have to shut Rosie
in our room so that they won't hassle each other.  She and Cinder still are
working on "issues."  I'm sure you know how a cat feels about a closed door.

Thank you.  We have a great catsitter who writes a journal of what happens
each time she visits. When she's been here before, Cinder has sulks under
the bed, but Rosie, the little lovebug, purrs and begs for skritches.

Ah, yes, I remember well the doggy drool and feeding grunts. They are
special, indeed. I hope you are getting some rest by now.
This will be my first RPCA meeting.  I'm excited.  My daughter thinks I'm a
little daft and has warned me about meeting people on the Internet.  I told
her my cyberfriend probably should be the one to worry. (grin).  It's kind
of nice having my baby being the one to worry, after the stuff she pulled
off while growing up.
Complete report to follow when we return home.

Hi Annie!

It's your Pittsburgher posting! :)  I had to laugh when I read this, about
your daughter worrying.  I am harmless, can be outspoken (that's being
polite, I've been told I have a BIG mouth).  It's my first RPCA meeting as
well, and first time I've ever meat anyone via the net, so I can understand
your daughter's concerns.  I think we will have fun and should enjoy meeting
one another - and don't be afraid to tell me to shut up from time to time,
as I tend to talk too much.  :)

Prayers and purrs to your hubby, having a safe trip and to your kitties
getting on well with the sitter.  We can visit the shelter if you need a
kitty fix.  :)

Hi JoJo,
I figure anyone who fosters cats has nothing but good intentions.  I think
that you will find that Christine and I also speak our respective minds.  I
hope Pittsburgh is ready for us. (grin).

We'll have to ask Christine if she is up to visiting the shelter.  She's got
a really soft heart for animals in need.  It's hard only visiting and
leaving them behind.  But, on the other hand, she might think snuggling some
homeless animals would be a good way to spend some spare time.

We really appreciate your hospitality.  It has given us something to look
forward to and take our mind off the worry.

We will leave here Tuesday morning and will arrive in Pittsburgh at 5 p.m.
I'll call you and let you know our room number after we check in.

Annie, who has checked the weather forecast and is shivering already.
JoJo - 25 Apr 2004 19:11 GMT
hey - 60's is shorts and sandals weather to us! :)  Bring sunglasses (no not

Shorts and sandals make up most of our wardrobe here most of the year.  We
usually have to remind ourselves to put shoes on before we get in the car
and drive off anywhere.  For our trip, we'll have to dig out the jeans and
sweaters and find appropriate shoes.  I think I have a jacket somewhere....
I'm sure we'll look like tourists, all bundled up, me with freckles and Jim
with a tan.

Get yourselves Steelers t-shirts and they'll never know. Heh, you may go
home w/ a healing husband and more cats from Pittsburgh before it's all
done. I'm staying out of shelters; it's gonna be enough fun getting the Evil
3 to Denver.

I suppose we'd be really anonymous wearing Steelers t-shirts over winter
jackets among a group of pale-faces in shorts and sandals.
We're hoping for the healing husband part, but Cinder and Rosie would be
really upset if we showed up with additional kitties.

We're wishing you an uneventful trip moving the Evil 3 to Denver.  We
brought three with us from Washington State to Texas, so we know it can be
done.
Annie
JoJo - 26 Apr 2004 03:42 GMT
To the locals is pronounced Stillers, I think that's the team that actually
wins.  I would suggest NOT wearing anything Cleveland - in particular the
Browns (why would anyone root for them?  heehee) - huge rivalry.

Good luck on your trip to Denver, kitties will probably come thru
unscathed - may I suggest valium or lots of vodka for you the worrying
parent.  <smile> (I would be the same way!)

Hope you and the Evil 3 have a safe trip as well.

Poor kid.  Thanks Jojo for taking care of our worrying waif and her

Thanks, Pam.
I think we will be in good hands, medical and otherwise.
I think that with your coming trip, you will set some kind of a "we met"
record.  I can hardly wait to read about it.
Speaking of waifs, I wonder if the word has spread among the feline
campground waifs that you are soon to be under way.

Many, many, many purrs for Jim's back surgery to be a total success.  Dennis
and I will be thinking of you guys and keeping our fingers crossed.  Be sure
to force Jim to take it easy for a very long time to help his recovery.  I'm
sure Dennis' recovery time was doubled because he was up and about too soon.
Also, make sure he does not go jogging in sandals ;-)  Speaking of, that
injury of Dennis' is finally healing and the back pain almost gone.  It just
took a long time.  But the good news is, he won't need any further surgery.

Britta,
I'm glad that Dennis is doing so much better and will not need additional
surgery.  That must be a big relief for both of you. I'll warn Jim about the
jogging in sandals and try to keep him from overdoing it.  Of course, the
down side is that when he is better, he'll have to go back to work.  I hope
he won't go back too soon before he is really ready.  Just to be sure, I'm
hoping he can get the disability insurance people to send him for a fitness
to work evaluation before he has to go back.
