Mary Pelis - 23 Apr 2004 01:07 GMT Sometimes the bartender overserves us at our favorite restaurant down the street. Such was the case a couple of weeks ago. I didn't realize how hard the wine & after dinner drink hit until after I got home & put my contact lenses safely in their case. I crumpled to the bathroom floor in a room-spinning haze, trying very hard not to lose my dinner in the process. Somehow or other I managed to crawl into my bedroom, & get undressed, not daring to lie anywhere but the floor. Don't know how long I was there, but I became very thirsty for some water, and just could not get up to get it. I started calling my SO, who was watching tv in the living room...no reply. I called louder with the same result. Mookie came into the room to see what the problem was, and heard me now yelling as loud as I could. He got very nervous and started meowing in a most plaintive way, and quite loudly in a voice belonging solely to the Siamese. As I continued yelling, so did he, but he did it all the way into the living room, and then stood in front of his dad and screamed like hell to get his attention. It worked. As he tried to appease Mookie, I screamed one last time, and in he came, with Mookie bringing up the rear. The look on his face, I am certain, was one of "My work here is done."
I'm wondering which of these two guys is *really* my soulmate! Right now, my money's on Mookie the WonderMese!

I've always thought he just got the idea when he was little, that yelling is what we do around here, and he'd better get his 2 cents in. ;)
A lot of times when my mom and I are yelling to each other from different floors, Stinky will walk back and forth between us going "YooooooWWWW! YoooooooWWWWW!" What's even funnier is that one of us will stop and say "What?" or "Shut up, you!" to him, and he'll look right at us and yow right back. ;)

Single-mindedness is all very well in cows or baboons; in an animal claiming to belong to the same species as Shakespeare it is simply disgraceful. (Aldous Huxley)
JP Hobbs - 23 Apr 2004 01:52 GMT When I had my Black Panther I had no DH to call if I was sick or sad, so Panther would do the honours, she would stay by my side and never move, and she would look at me,as if asking 'what can I do? with a worried expression. Mookie knew what to do though didn't he? as you said, alittle Hero! Jean.P.

He missed her too.
> as you said, alittle Hero! Yup. He's repaying the favor, as I've saved him on 3 different occasions already. Now he's my shadow - my old shadow (he turned 16 this month), and I'm grateful for every day he's been in my life.

JP Hobbs - 23 Apr 2004 12:42 GMT Panther was 16 & a half when she went to RB friends used to laugh when we talked to each other and if I asked her to kiss my nose, she would she was beautiful Jean.P.

Sometimes our ...uh ... "discussions" get a little loud, and he's got to play referee - either that or he's just letting us know, "Hey! SHUT UP! It's all about MEEEEEser!"

The front door of the house goes right into the kitchen, so if Dennis comes home from somewhere, we'll just stay in the kitchen and catch up. Vino despises not being the centre of attention and will start yowling and trying everything in his power to interrupt our conversation. Little spoiled brat! -- Britta Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr. I have an alarm clock that's covered in fur! Mookie's a very smart kitty. After all, he's as smart as a collie, which are very intelligent dogs.

The look on his face, I am certain, was one of >"My work here is done." I think kitties know what they're doing ;-) I take care of baby squirrels. I have to feed them every three hours 24 hours a day so I get pretty tired. When they're hungry, hurt or scared they let out a high pitched peeping sound like a bird. I generally run to go see what's wrong. I had one baby that would peep just to get me to run over there and pick her up. There was never anything wrong. One night around 3 in the morning the baby peeps. I know it's the little girl so I try to sleep. She peeps again, then I hear a meow, another peep, another meow. Then the meow is getting closer and closer. Then the meow jumps up on the bed. I look up and there is Mimi with the sleepiest eyes you've ever seen meowing at me to go see what the baby wants. Then she went back to bed. I of course had to get up and check on the baby who was fine. I need to teach Mimi how to feed them ;-)

Do the squirrels "imprint" on you? Do they end up worshipping you as the Squirrel Goddess? ;)

What does your Mimi look like? My little Mimi (RB) was a tiny little shrimp in a tuxedo-- or what it really looked like was a nun's habit. We always used to say she was a tiny little nun. ;) She was the smallest cat with the biggest personality I've ever seen.

Mimi is a most beautiful long-haired white cat with black spots, and a black dipstick tail. Mary has posted amazing pictures of her romping and babying squirrels, and Mimi has been featured in Cat Fancy as an "ultimate mommy"!
lrulan - 24 Apr 2004 04:20 GMT Mimi is one of my favorite cats from the Internet. She is awesome as a 'mommy' cat to little orphans. Her best friend is Shirley the squirrel, who is my second favorite animal from the internet. Mary's stories about the 2 are hilarious. And, of course, Mimi is world-famous for winning the Cat Fancy contest as best mommy cat. Jazz & his mama
