Anyone watching? Who would you vote for? I'd kill for that kitchen Jon and
Stacy made. I LOVE those chairs.

Well, I got into it kind of late. Today was the first time I watched,
but they ran a couple past episodes before the new one, and I watched.
I thought both kitchens were good, but agree with you choice.

BTW, while I'm not a regular viewer, a couple of those remodel jobs on
those type of shows are just plain scarey. Like the one where they put
in cardboard furniture and glued cardboard to all the walls and
ceiling. Another from today where they planted a blue sky on the
ceiling of the gameroom, which was plainly visible from the downstairs
living area. Usually when the home owners come home and hate what was
done they try to put on a brave face, but I liked the guy who came
home and kept saying "I'm pissed, how could you cut a hole in my
deck!"

Ohhhh I remember that. That was on While You Were Out. Whew. He was almost
violent. I felt bad for the wife.

Yes, Hildy was the "designer" for the cardboard walls.  I think she must be
trying to specialize in creating disasters for the homeowner -- on one show,
she covered an entire wall with feathers, and on another she used
*thousands* of flowers and glued them to the wall.  Then there was the show
when they brought a sofa in from another room, cut the arms off and
recovered it -- and the owner almost cried when she said they had just paid
to have it recovered specifically for the other room.  There is no way I
would ever turn my house over to those people!  It's not so bad when it's
just a coat of paint, but I hate it when they deliberately make changes to a
house despite that being a feature that the homeowner specifically said was
important and *not* to be changed (such as the firsplace that the designer
insisted on "renovating").

Still, I guess I'm fascinated as a TV viewer because I have watched a *lot*
of episodes.  Also, they had such big budgets for the shows Karen mentioned
that they were able to do some *awesome* makeovers (but also some strange
"challenges" for the "Home Free" shows, such as weird paint colors that had
to be incorporated in some of the earlier episodes).

But those tables were WAY cool for a homework challenge. THat Jon is
*really* a good artist. The only ones I'd halfway trust is Frank, Vern and
Kristi. Doug, the new cute guy, Hildi and Kia are just plain scary.

Yes, I like that type of challenge.  The tables were great, but they could
easily be removed if the homeowner didn't like them.  The paint, on the
other hand, isn't so easily removed -- and they had some really strange
colors that had to be the primary color scheme even though fabrics in other
color palettes had already been selected.  There have also been numerous
shows (but not the "Home Free" episodes) where the homeowner would specify
"no brown" or "no green" because they were the colors he or she hated.  And
guess which colors the designer invariably *insisted* on using!!  One show
ended with the bedroom looking exactly like a cemetery plot (literally).

Hey, I wouldn't mind having either of the tables, both teams did
great. ;-) Just think what those people could have come up with a
little more time and a little money.

My other thought while watching the cardboard show was why on earth
use Liquid Nail to glue it to the wall. I've never used that stuff on
a wall, but surely there are better choices which would leave less
wall damage. I mean even if they initially like some of the weird
stuff, eventually the novelty would wear off and they'd want to take
it down.

It was a great when they found out they were supposed to redo the
kitchen with a couple thousand- long long faces there as it suck in.
Then it was happy faces when they found they actually had $20,000 and
could bring the Home Depot installers in to help install stuff.
