Does anyone else have a cat who instantly comes running when you eat potato
chips (crips for the brits)?

Possum LUUUUUURRRRVVVES chips.. but i only give him one little piece when he
asks.  Its so cute though, he hears a bag of any sort like a chip bag and he
comes running...

Yes.   Stinky  also likes the bizarrely flavored ones that I tend to
favor.  He dived into a bag of guacamole-flavored chips I brought home
yesterday, and he'll really fight me for the cheddar cheese-sour cream
ones. ;)

When I sat on my veranda, my almost-Turkish angora buddy, the now-departed
dear old Bobby was my drinking buddy back when I had the occasional martini.
He'd beg for the olive. I wondered if it was for the gin it had soaked in.

Being a longhair, there was lots of that.

When I *only* had four EVERY one of them would steal an olive (I love them
myself).  And they didn't just lick them, they ATE them - even Tyrone who
ate nothing but dry cat food.

Two of my six like chips and will ask politely for a bite.  They
don't seem to be as avid chip eaters as your Possum though.  It seems
that they each have their own special people food that they like. The
one with the most expensive tastes is my boy Sumo. Daddy always has
to share the occasional king crab leg that he gets whenever Lynda
wants to get him something really special from the market.

BT Rowdy loves the hoomins' sour-cream/chives or salt/vinegar 'chips but I
don't let him have any as several rpca friends said they'd be bad for him (I
forgot why.....probably the salt). He's so fat anyway he doesn't need snacks
like that.

Yoda loves, and has always loved, nacho flavored Doritos. He doesn't get them
anymore. But when he was young, his 10-year-old master got him hooked on them
one summer. Yoda's head would always be greasy from crawling in the sack and
his breath always smelled like Dorritos.

Toby always begs for, and gets, my apple cores. He devours them greedily
and begs for more. Same with celery.

Oh yeah.  Any chip bag, or a tube of crackers being opened.  Persia goes so
far as to try to bat said chip/cracker out of my hand if I'm reading a book
and have it only half-way up near my face.  Sometimes she succeeds.

With Pea, it's salad.  Take any fresh leafy green stuff out of the fridge,
and there he is, meowing for some.  Max, on the other hand, shows up
whenever I'm attempting to eat anything wrapped in a tortilla.  I have to
break off some of the tortilla for him, or he'll just jump up on the table
and help himself (while I'm taking a bite, of course.)  To make Emily
appear?  Open up that container of sushi!

Heh heh.  Beastie has always loved tater chips, I've always thought it
was for the salt.  In fact I haven't had chips in ages so I think I'll
test Beasties self-reserve!

Sheba is rabid about Cheetos. She will attack me to get a bite; so I
give her a tiny nibble ever so often while I am eating. And then i let
her lick the orange cheesy flavoring off my fingers. I hope I am not
ruining her diet.

She always came running and begging in a loud demanding voice when i
would get the bag out. But lately i have been emptying a new bag in a
metal tin. It didn't fool her. i think she smells them or knows the
sound of the crunch as i eat one.

OOOOH! Persia also loves CheetOs.  They are one of my (few) snack vices; I
like the baked puffed ones.  Sometimes I give in and give her a tiny piece.
She adores licking that cheese mess off my fingers, too.

Don't think they have a cat as their commercial representative for no reason
:)

I like the crunchy ones. And i think Sheba misses eating crunchy food.
She only gets a tablespoon of DM kibble. the rest is canned. By order
of the vet for the calorie balance. So maybe that is why she likes the
Cheetos so well.

Mischief loves Pringles Sour Cream.

She will come over to inspect what we are eating, and then she's like,
"oooooooo, what a splendid offering for me.  How kind of you to taste
test it for me.  Um, hoomin, that's enough testing, it's mine turn
now.  C'mon, don't hog it all!"

Mike looooves pretzels, and likes to lick the powdery stuff off of
Doritos.  He also loves watermelon and asparagus.

Who has never noticed the litterbox smelling any different after
asparagus consumption, btw
Exocat - 17 Apr 2004 10:17 GMT
Adding to the list of oddities they like:

Bandit loves my French (Freedom?) salad dressing & insists on licking
the bowl once the nasty greenery is out of the way. (Olive oil,
vinegar, mustard, lemon juice, sugar, salt & pepper, btw).

Pericles adores Cornflakes dry, fresh out of the box

Snowball prefers marmalade sandwiches: he nibbled a corner off one I
held in my hand the other day

Kensey RB liked Macaroons: he'd wrestle my arm to the ground so he
could snatch them from my grasp, if I'd let him (sometimes, not often,
tho' now I wish he'd won more frequently)

Aries RB would sample absolutely _anything_ if I was eating it myself,
without bias or prejudice.

Purrs etc to all

Bandit,
Pericles,
Snowball
