When I hurt the most,  cry the most, love the most,  I come here - to  you,
the cat people,  who understand what it is to lose a friend.

Today I said goodbye to Mr Fast,  my  grey tabby  boy,  aged  20.

He came into my life at about one year old,  he moved into my garden then
into my heart.  He  was timid at first,  I threw  cat treats to him through
the window.  Gradually, we would sit together on the back step, as I gave
him food.  I  took him to the vet for the 'snip' - he put his paws around my
neck when I went to collect him.

Mr  Fast outlived many of my fur people but age caught up with him - first
he lost all his teeth, then his  kidneys became a problem,  then he became
deaf - over the last week or so it was apparent he was going blind.

My lovely grey tabby boy was walking into doors and getting lost in the
house.

After much soul-searching I analysed on his behalf 'quality of life'.

Four  hours ago, I cried while Mr Fast left this world.

I would like the thank the Veterinary profession for being here to help us
to ease our friends from their pain and confusion -  I waited while Mr Fast
fell into the endless sleep and peace he needed.

Dusty will miss him, she loved to curl up next to him.

I will miss him - he was my eldest boy,  my constant cat.

Rest well, my Fast...  I  love you

Thank you, Karen,  through my tears,  and with one elbow at an odd angle as
I type because it rests upon Bagster's head -why can cats NOT leave us alone
while we are on the puter?

I will never be without the love of a cat -  (I peg them up on the
clothesline by the ears until they mew 'I love you')

All of my fur people have been special and have a place in my heart.

When I reach the Rainbow Bridge I will be bowled over by the cranky old lady
Belle, my first ever cat Whiskers, my second  cat Dewey, the old grumpy man
Humphrey, the pillow - hog  Zaphod, the  'cat stalked by birds '- Sam, the
most  broken and patched up ever cat Villain,  the timidest Muffin, the
bossiest Sascha, my  wonderful Max, the  Imperial Princess Buki, Earth
Mother Sherry, and my sweet Mr Fast.

They have all left me to grieve and mourn their passing.

Which leaves me with the 'cat-with-no-tail' Bagster,  the crazy Dusty  and
introducing  (11 months old)  Boopie Nana Girl  (okay  her real name is
Sally)  who sleeps on my pillow and lets me hold her paw in my fingers until
I fall asleep.

Thank you, Karen

Because they love us and want to make sure we're not visiting naughty
sites or downloading music illegally or talking to strangers.

I am sorry for your loss. There is nothing that ever makes up for it.

Oh, Kathy, I'm so sorry.  Please accept my deepest, heartfelt
sympathy.  Our kitties send their most tender purrs for Mr Fast's

Death is a gift, Kathy.  To a body destroyed by accident, ravaged by
disease, or exhausted by age, death is a release of the soul, a renewal to
go bounding forth with new energy into another world of discovery,  Old
friends and family found, new friends made.  I think the problem, such as it
is, lays with us, those remaining, who have a somewhat selfish view about
it.
I'm sorry you miss your buddy, but, not meaning to sound callused about
it, would you deny your friend the new experience, at the cost of remaining
with you?  As a caring person, I think not.
You might as well cheer up, Mr. Fast is likely doing just fine at the
moment, but concerned about you being in the dumps.

I am so sorry for your loss. Twenty years is a good long life...he is just as
much a part of your family as the humans are. I know you'll miss him
dreadfully. I hope you are able to celebrate his life and remember him with
only  joy and fondness soon.

So sorry to hear that you had to make the ultimate gift of love to Mr
Fast, No matter how long we have them, those special cats leave a bog
hole when they leave.

Purrs coming for all who knew this special guy, and lighting a candle
for his trip to the RB, where he'll be young and healthy waiting for
you.

Many purrs to you and Fast.  I'm sure when you cross the bridge, he will be
scurrying his fast little tushie over to you as quickly as he can.  I
haven't had the opportunity to be owned for that long by a pet, but i
certainly hope to!

Thanks so much for aknowledging the vets and techs at your clinic.  We
really do care about your pets, and often are almost as sad to see them go
as you are.  Especially when its a client who's been with us for years.

The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight,
because by then your body and your fat are really good friends.

That was a beautiful tribute Kathy. I am very sorry to hear about your loss
and, of course, the loss of Dustys mate.

We are all purring for his safe crossing of the RB.

I am sure that he will be eagerly greeted when he gets there.

Condolences

Mr Fast was surely a beutiful cat, and the world is a lesser place without
him. You love for him shone through this wonderful tribute, so much so that
i findmyself crying for the loss of a cat that I've never met.

He will be in excellent company at Rainbow Bridge.

My deepest condolences, and comforting purrs. We'll light a candle tonight
in Mr Fast's memory.

Beautiful tribute, Kathy.  May the sad thoughts of his passing be soon
replaced by happy thoughts of your times with him.

My heart goes out to you, Kathy.  Never doubt that you performed the most
faithful and loyal act of friendship you could give your Mr. Fast.  We had
an orange tabby named Frodo that we did the same for at age 20.  Making that
decision was the hardest thing to do but I have never doubted that I did the
right thing for my friend.  Hopefully, you can look back at the long years
of happiness you shared together and treasure those wonderful memories.
