Heya folks!

So last night I was sitting there using the computer, and Lynxie's food
bowl was between the door and me. I noticed him come into the room, walk
RIGHT PAST the food bowl, rub himself against and around my ankles,
stopping for a scritch between the ears, and only then walk back to the
food bowl and devour the remaining food there.

He decided that greeting me first was more important than eating! I was
a bit touched by this, and gave him a few extra treats once he finished
his food.

He's become such a wonderful cat. And to think I had waited so long to
finally get a kitty....

Your subject line says it all.  And your story rings true.  I would be
willing to bet that for most of us, our kitty alarms go off in the
morning to get us up and around, and to play with them, as much as for
food.  Stinky has food down all night, and he wants his snuggle time
and attention in the morning.

Single-mindedness is all very well in cows or baboons; in an animal
claiming to belong to the same species as Shakespeare it is simply disgraceful.

Wilson has food down all night too, then I worry, and wonder why he's
isn't ready for breakfast straight away, silly me. Jean.P.

Hi Zorin!  I hear this crap (pardon my language) all the time.  But my
Persia not only goes for cuddles with *me* before food, she sleeps curled up
next to me.  She could be on the prowl around the house, but very rarely do
I wake up when she's not right next to me.  If I stir during the night and
disturb her, she kneads my side, purring, then settles back down to sleep
next to me.  The other night I had to get up and use the facilities.  She
jumped down, then came back up on the bed as I was dozing off and gave me a
sweet little kitty-kiss (lick) on the cheek before curling up against me.

Cats *are* affectionate.  Just like people, however, sometimes they need
their space.  And they all have their own personalities.

I can't imagine having a human male stick to me like glue like Persia does;
that would be extremely annoying and would probably lead to divorce, if not
outright murder LOL

Yeah, like Maluce is still showing her love by parking on my head/face at
night when we all settle down in the big bed. I just reach up and shove her
butt outa my face (tail: whack, whack, whack) and she stays right there all
night.

Maybe she's looking at you.  Have you heard the theory that cats have
eyes in their butts?  That's why they sit on the newspaper when you're
trying to read it-- they're reading through their butts. ;)

<slaps forehead>
Of course!! That would explain Frank's behavior while I'm trying to type. He's
trying to make eye contact.

Yes, those butt-eyes are the reading eyes.  That's why they sit on
newspapers, your tax forms, LP sleeves, etc. ;)

That being the case, I wish Little Bit could learn to turn the whole
page instead of just parts of it while reading the newspaper.

LOL! Yes, that's the most annoying part when Frank is reading the newspaper.
