Since it is after midnight, Bruiser turned one year old today. He has
turned out to be quite the cat. Just seems like yesterday when he was
this tiny little thing who would climb up on me because he was afraid of
the grass. Now he's a big strapping fuzzy teenager with the biggest tail
in the neighborhood. Hard to imagine life without him. Bruiser is the
happiest cat I have ever seen. I mean he just always seems happy. Like
a puppy seems to be happy. He never seems to have those cat moods where
they go all mysterious and dour. He is perpetually cheerful. Although at
times it can wear on you he is a pleasure to have around. I am going to
give him what he really wants most, today all the tuna he wants.

Ah, sounds great, that's really easy and fun to live with. My two white
cats, Willie and Quinn, are like that too - I refer to it as, "Life
flows through him". Willie though is on the cusp of geriatric while
Quinn is probably just a year and a half. Norm

Happy birthday, Bruiser! Persia sends purrs and head butts and will
probably also swat you for liking tuna. But what the hey, it's your day!

Aww. Happy Purrday to Bruiser. He's not a kitten anymore.
Sniff, sniff. :-)
Neat that's he's a "happy cat", that's a wonderful purrsonality trait. My
grandcat Bosley (the orange tabby) is also a happy cat; I think I know just
what you're talking about.

Thanks to all who replied. Bruiser had a very nice day and he loved
getting all the extra tuna. I discovered Bruiser may be smarter than I
had gave him credit. Last night I went and retrieved my mail from the
weekend of course the cats came along. When I got back I sat down to
read the grocery store ads and he attacked the paper shredding it. I got
the feather wand out to play with him. I don't do this often since both
of them get a lot of exercise being indoor/outdoor cats. While playing I
noticed he was not watching the feathers, he was watching my hand. He
actually figured out what was making it move and using that to predict
where the feathers would be as a result he was nailing the thing every
time he wanted. I have said many times that while he has many other
positives brains wasn't one of them. I don't think I gave him enough
credit.

Jake does this which takes a lot of the fun out of it. Then when he catches
the lure, he lays down on it. Game over. We don't play all that much
anymore.

Happy belated birthday to Bruiser.
We have a cat toy that has a short pole with fishing line attached to the
end, The original toy on the end was distroyed so I tied a plastic spider to
it. Abby is not the smartest cat but she figured out the if she holds the
string with her paw she also has the toy.

A dinner guest actually brought a similar toy [thankfully, the one he
brought didn't have feathers. With a bird in the house, doesn't seem
smart to encourage Felix to attack feathers :-)]. Said guest was
competing with his colleague for the cat's attention. It was kinda
funny to watch. :-)

Sammy has that figured out, too. She goes all out for a while, but
when she wants a rest she catches it and lays on it. I usually just
let go of the wand. When she wants to resume play she comes looking
for me, dragging the wand behind.

Bringing a toy (the one called the 'Cat Dancer') to his kitty
mommie was perhaps the most endearing thing that my youngest boy,
Sumo, did when he was younger. Lynda could never resist playing with
him when he did this -- and who'd want to resist?
He's the sweetest boy in the world when he's asleep. The rest of
the time he splits between being sweet and being a devil cat. ;-)
