Hey Krista:

Have I missed an update since you posted that the reduced dosage seemed to
be working better for Mike?  Is he still doing ok?  Is he still a lovebug?

Thanks for asking, Susan - he is still not quite himself, but better.
In fact, this past weekend he got some outside time for the first time
in quite a while - for a while even after I could tell he was feeling
better he was still so twitchy and unpredictable I was afraid to let
him out.

He's backed off on the lovebug business and has now for the past
several days taken to spending most of his time in the kitchen chairs
pulled up to the table.  It's a switch from his either wanting to be
in my lap or in my closet.  It's also an entirely new thing.

He's been *different* since we've started this medication.  He's
clearly feeling better now, but he's doing things he's never done
before.  Not good, not bad, just different.  This is a departure for
Mike, who has never ever been able to stand any sort of change, much
less wanted to initiate any himself.  He's sleeping in different
places, like the kitchen chairs, and ignoring his usual spots which
have been in rotation for years.  He doesn't seem distressed at all -
he grooms and snoozes as usual, but just in entirely new spots.  It's
a little strange, but then so is he.   :-)

Please give your boys a scritch for me, and please tell Otis that I'm
very impressed by his roof adventure.  I'm not telling Mike about it,
because he might realize that he could do the very same thing from our
fence.

Thanks, Christine.  We appreciate the purrs for our little darling.  :-)

I was wondering too, the other day. Thanks for the update. It sounds as if
Mikey has calmed down a lot. Has he been spraying at all? We are still
purring for his well-being.

Thanks, Marina.  He always sprays some; we haven't had any major
sprayfests recently, though.  (I can't believe I am actually putting
that in writing.  That's asking for it!)

He is calmer now; it took a lot longer for the lower dose to be
effective, so I am not sure that we've reached a stable level yet, and
am still watching for behavioral changes.  We do appreciate all the
purrs!   :-)

Continuing purrs and healthy thoughts for Mikey from us all.  Please
keep letting us know how Mike was doing.

Mike's tearing up the medical training program at Kitterel.  They're
talking about trying to get him into college and medical school.  He's
almost a month ahead of the rest of the kids there.

We always knew he was smart.  Now he's proving to us that he's not lazy.
Though he says we "stuck" him in there and that he hates it.

Good for him!  If he'll stick with it in spite of hating it, he could
have it made.  Though maybe it'd be counter-productive to tell him so?

Thanks Krista.  It would be counter productive to say ANY thing to Mike.
He swears that he knows it all and that us telling him anything is a
waste of time for him.  Sigh.  Someday he may figure out that he could
have learned from our mistakes.

Sounds a whole lot like my youngest brother, oddly enough named Mike.
Dropped out of high school to "experience life". Once got arrested for
breaking into a boxcar sitting on a railway siding and stealing a case
of toilet paper. Worked in the oil fields, went to Hawaii and Alaska,
before finally settling down. Got his GED, worked his way up through
the corporate ladder, and I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't earn
more bonuses a year than I do working. And, unfortunately for his
daughters, he knows all the dodges kids use and is the strictest
parent of my siblings.

Take heart, Pam.  The older Mike gets the smarter his parents will
get.

That's great!  Going to medical school would be like going from 0 to
100 in 5 seconds though.  Those guys work something like 100 hours a
week!

Congratulations on your Mike, Pam.  And here's hoping Krista's continues to
improve.

A big Aussie "Goodonyamate" to Mike for putting in such a great effort. We
all knew he could do it, but I bet he's surprising himself the most.

That's good, that he's feeling better, I mean.  The stuff that's
different sounds like it could be the source of more stories. :)
