Have you ever looked at how your cats positon themselves for tv watching (at
least if they actually do)?

I noticed Peepers watching Judge Judy tonight and was amazed at how he had
arranged himself.  He had assumed a sphinx position along the front of a
seat cushion on the loveseat.  It was really unusual to see his hair hanging
down half the depth of the cushion ( the wrong end of the cusion was forward
so that the square rear edge was forward as it would never have worked with
the rounded front edge).  As soon as it was over he went into curled up with
top head on cusion position until some cartoons came on and he went back to
the new tv watching position.  I think I am going to call this the "Judge
Judy" position.

It got me to thinking about some of the other tv watching poses I've seen
him assume for long periods.  There is the twisted neck position from the
top of the scratching post when he watches cartoons (animations reallly)
from there ( I think he likes the simple shapes and large movements).  He
sits upright in what I call the "I am royal" position facing largely away
from the screen with his head turned back to face the screen.  Nature shows
(with birds preferred but other small animals can be watched) leads to him
sitting on the floor directly in front of the tv in the "I am royal"
position with his head turned up to look directly at the screen.  How he
keeps his head turned so long for either of these without discomfort is
beyond me.

The "I am royal" position is the basic erect sitting position with the
curved back and forward facing with the neck rising up rather than forward.
I think it is a really elegant sitting position.
