Last night, my dear wife's Mom passed away.  She had had Alzheimer's for
about 5 years and had been slowly going downhill.  In some ways it was a
relief that she was out of her suffering, but it's always hard to "let Mom
go".  Her Dad had passed away last April so it was just her Mom.

Ramona (DW) had been going down for two months 3 times a year to give her
older sister some respite from tending to their mother (we live in Seattle,
WA, USA - northwest corner of the "lower 48") and her parents live in
Alabama (Southeast US).  She's been doing this for about 4 years now, and
had been down staying with her Mom for almost a month this trip.
Fortunately, she was there during Mom's "final moments".  When her Dad
passed away, she was here (Seattle) so she didn't really get to "say
goodbye" in quite the same way.

Anyway, any purrs and prayers of comfort you can spare would be greatly
appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear about your MIL.  It's good that Ramona could have
been with her in her last days.  It's strange, but it's somehow been
more of a comfort to me when it happens that way.  Purrs for you and
your family.

Purrs are on their way.  Losing a loved one is never easy, even when it
is obviously a release for the loved one.  I'm glad Ramona was there at
the right time.

Purrs to you, too.  It must be traumatic to lose a sibling, especially
when you didn't have a chance to say goodbye.

Thanks Joy, yes it really is, and it makes you feel a bit guilty too
even though I'm sure they understand. I lost a very dear friend
like that too we'd kept in touch for 35 years, met againand a few
yrs later she was gone, and you dont know how ill they are when
your so far away, at least her sister took me to see her grave when I went
over there and I met her kidswho I hadn't seen since they were tots when
I left England   purrs Jean.

I am glad she got to say goodbye. In a way it is harder than not being
able to; but it provides closure. At any rate my heart goes out to
her.

Last night, my dear wife's Mom passed away. >>

Sam, As I was reading your post, one of my cats, Kieri, jumped on my lap,
and looked at the computer monitor. She turned around, started purring
furiously, and put her paws around my neck.  She stayed like that for about
a minute, and got down. She says she and the rest of my crew send mega purrs
and kitty hugs to you and Ramona, and that we will keep you in our thoughts.

Take care,
Patti and crew

New Zealand purrs on the way Sam, what a sad year for your family.  It
is almost a year since my sister died and I still miss not being able to
tell her things - particularly when something funny happens with the
kitties.
