Hopitus2 - 18 Mar 2004 04:43 GMT Have been preoccupied, about a week, just skimming rpca. Have even whipped the Evil 3 into a frenzy of nerves here, even porker short furry people that they are, all of us anxiously awaiting word from Denver on imminent arrival of my first barekitten there.....early today - St. Paddy's (and *no one* on either side has Irish roots, hee hee) a 7#8oz girl made her appearance on this earth as my first grandkid. Her parents are wiped-out tired: get this, Yowie: the hospital throws Mom out the same day: they're HOME! I was horrified, but as son points out, the hospital is only half a block away.....but still. I told him, AFA the day of birth, there will *always* be a party going on somewhere on her birthday, even if all are wearing green. There are worse days to be born on.....such as Christmas or Halloween. Actually, if I had to pick one of those, I'd go for Halloween. Kowabunga! Cigars for all! Cat treats all around! *We* are partying in south FL tonight.

Sherry - 18 Mar 2004 05:13 GMT Congratulations!! Does this little Barekitten have a name yet? March 17 is a great birrthday. Even in Denver, hard winter is about over, and the little barekitten will be 5-1/2 when she starts kindergarten. How exciting for you!

Cat treats all around! *We* are partying in south FL > tonight. Hopitus2 - 18 Mar 2004 08:16 GMT Whoa! Patricia would be a good one......but they were hoping to have her on my birthday, which was last Sat. I'm glad they didn't; the 13th sometimes falls on Fri. This is more fun. Havana Anisa is her name. Thanks for the congrats; I'll pass them on when her parents wake up. LOL - son told me if you have a Caeserean (sp.?) you get to stay *2* days in hospital. How things have changed since he was born.....I'll tell you a way to get to stay in a week and a half: have a heart attack; ROFL. But intensive care unit is like being in the slammer. Try eating your food off of your chest, for one thing. I got good at that. BTW they caught the Ohio sniper; I was wrong; he headed west after all & they arrested him in Vegas at his motel. Still driving the green Geo, though.

Huggs and Purrs to her Jean.P. Okay, I want grandkids, but not from my kids, yet. Mandy is "too" young, and Mike couldn't support his own cat, let alone a barekitten right now. Anyone know of someone who needs an honorary grandmother?

Abi has been extremely clingy to her remaining grammy since her mawmaw passed away last Sunday. I haven't seen Abi but maybe a couple hours all week. And while Mom has been extremely patient and understanding, she's also exhuasted ;).

I meant I'd be on the honorary grandma list to be someones grandma. :) Since it won't happen for real, I'm adopting neices, nephews, friends kids, etc just waiting for them to have kids I can act like a grandma to. :)

Hopitus2 - 26 Mar 2004 05:02 GMT Well, partly in despair over *ever* getting grandkids, I've been acting like a grandparent to CATS for years, which is okay but now that I have a hoomin granddaughter got to adjust my thinking/behavior. Example: son & wife get way huffy when I call baby's cries "bellowing for food" as in cat life. When I finally get to hold her, must *not* give ear scritches! But kisses will be okay.

I *thought* seriously *thought* that they can't turn a baby loose for 48hours and a momma 24. This disturbs me greatly. Grr. Congrats all around Hops :)

Hopitus2 - 18 Mar 2004 18:13 GMT BTW, Gracie, comfort purrs to all at your place at loss of your MIL. Hope DH is a little better. But, are you kidding, 24 hrs? She had her baby @ 1:15 a.m. yesterday.....when I called and talked to son last night (8-ish their time) she and baby were home! And the hospital has all these fancy rooms like the one she had, where you labor, deliver, and recover, with DH welcome for all, right in same room the whole time. They live a few doors from the hospital so I'd call that "stroll-by" and not "drive-by" delivery.
: My daughter was born six years ago yesterday as well. : [quoted text clipped - 30 lines] : > -- : > If there's no cats in heaven, I don't wanna go! Jo Firey - 18 Mar 2004 20:24 GMT > My daughter was born six years ago yesterday as well. > [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > > Grace Drive through would have worked fine for my daughter when she had her three. And after my sister-in-law had her second in record time after arriving at the hospital, they told her if she had another to just stay home. Or she would have it in the car on the way.
When Vicki's second son was born, they called us when she left for the hospital. We stopped by her neighbors to pick up her older son, and by the time we got to the hospital (less than 1 1/2 hours) she was sitting up in bed scarffing down lunch. The baby was in the room with her and we all got to pass him around etc.
It is just very unfortunate that they take an exception like this and treat it as a norm they expect everyone to conform to.

I thought a law/regulation that the mother must stay at least 24 hours after the birth. If was found that the too quick stays were upping ER use due to coplications missed in such a brief stay. And were/are more expensive that staying longer after birth. Suz Macmoosette Thank Heavens There's Only One =^..^= =^..^= =^..^= =^..^= =^..^= =^..^=

She had a large copper kettle - with spout and lid that sat on her fireplace as a decoration. It was filled with those cheap plastic cowboys and Indians that kids like and similar stuff. They knew right where to go to get "their" stuff.

Hopitus2 - 20 Mar 2004 00:23 GMT Everyone *is* doing well. Mom swears she's in great shape, has almost forgotten the brief suffering (but *not* the hard work involved) in birthing, Dad finally got some shuteye, and....just as we were hanging up, the Newborn bellowed for a feeding and I concluded its - uh, "her" - must stop calling it an "it" - lungs were in A1 shape to produce such volume at such a tender age of 1 day.
