dirtylitterboxofferingstospammers - 10 Mar 2004 15:03 GMT Spotted in the garden for the first time - a pair of long-tailed tits :-) I'm ever so pleased as they are new visitors! I wonder, as it's a pair, if they are going to nest nearby? If they do, I hope it's high up out of feline grasp.

for what one looks like - just to keep the Daves in check ;-)

Ade sponsored a swan for me, as part of supporting the Wetlands and Wildfowl Trust, and I got a newsletter yesterday saying that 'Vivaldi' was seen at our nearest nature reserve in October with his mate and their three cygnets

I was watching a tree creeper this morning, an occasional visitor to my garden.

dirtylitterboxofferingstospammers - 12 Mar 2004 18:07 GMT >They must have seen your post of a couple of weeks ago saying they don't >visit your garden. They must have been :-) The next day the kitchen fitter arrived to do some more work in the kitchen (no, I still don't have a complete new kitchen... long story... not the fitter's fault) and he said, "Guess what I saw in my garden today- a pair of long-tailed tits!) So it must be a Norfolk thing - long-tailed tits on the up ;-)

Could it be a very fine mesh you use to keep kittens from flowing into your kitchen? ;) Could it be special software to keep kittens from viewing adult cat sites?

> That's not a *tiny* thud, though. :P That's true, it's neither a tiny thud nor tiny feet. Licorice, who is young but not at all tiny, goes galloping into the kitchen after a thrown object, slides past it and crashes into the cabinets with a THUD of moderate volume. I love to hear him trying to get purchase on the slippery floor, claws scrabbling on the linoleum uselessly as he slides by.

Kreisleriana - 15 Mar 2004 15:02 GMT > >>*Little kitten* feet? My adult cats still do this! :) > [quoted text clipped - 8 lines] > >Joyce I know, it's so cartoony. I grew up on Warner Brothers Looney Toons, which had appropriate music for every movement the characters made, so I sometimes like to provide a "soundtrack" for Stinky as he goes around the house.
Ever since Stinky was a kitten, whenever he hits the floor from a moderate height, he makes this tiny little grunt as he lands. "rrrooff!" It's adorable.

It's adorable. That's cute. Roxy does something similar, although it's more like "uhnmrrt?" It's a single-syllable, grunt/meow/purr sound, all in one.

Stinky definitely has two different "jump-up" and "jump-down" noises. Sometimes he "wrrrrrrrrs" a bit before he makes the jump-- then goes "blrrrrrp?" when he lands. When he hits the floor jumping down, it's a little grunt-- "rrooff!" You can hear a little air being expelled.

Hey that reminds me - does anyone else's cat make a little "mrrrp" mew when they run through a doorway? Especially if the door isn't open very far? My Arthur and Katie both do it, and I've never figured out why. Helen Wheels

Nikki does mrrp a lot when she moves around the flat, but I haven't noticed her doing it specifically at doors.

My adult cats still do this! :) Pine Cone taught Honor about sliding into the kitchen furniture, about using the kitchen table as a launching point, and about treeing Tanada on the microwave by using the floor as a sliding point. Squeekers taught her about ice cube monsters.
Pam S. who's kitchen gets pretty lively at times.
