The Fang!

Hi All,

My cat Misty who is, unfortunately, no longer with us used to
exhibit a behavior my wife and I called, "The Fang!"  When her humans
did something that displeased her, she would let just one of her fangs
protrude from her mouth.

It was sort of an unspoken signal (well of course), but she used
to show "The Fang" in a passive manner -- she wouldn't run up to you
and show it, just sit there with one of her canines (can that be
right? *G*) hanging over her lower lip.

I was reminded of it when one of my two males, Sumo, just
displayed it.  He jumped up on the couch next to my wife and started
to claw it.  Lynda picked him up and cuddled him like a kitten.
Highly incensed at this affront to his dignity and adulthood, he gave
her "The Fang."

I'd be interested to know what behaviors other people's cats
exhibit to show displeasure.  An old friend had a cat named Peggy who
would go into the basement and stare at the wall.  Of course if you
weren't in the basement, the gesture was lost.

Regards and Purrs,

Maybe "the fang" is the cat version of "the finger".

LOL! That sounds funny. I don't know how she did that. My Frank wears his
fangs on the outside permanently. They wouldn't fit into his mouth anyway,
because they are so long.

(Piggybacking because I do not seem to be receiving posts from anyone
called OJ)

Mike wears his fangs on the outside too.  It's so cute when he
stretches up his chin for scritches; it's like a squinty blissful
vampire kitty.

PS:  Welcome, new poster OJ whose posts I cannot see.   ;-)

Hmmm...  Are you sure that Frank isn't a miniature sabertooth tiger?

I'm sure he'd like to think he is one. ;o)

That is too funny :-)  Vino doesn't give me the fang, but he kind of puffs
out his whisker pads (this makes him look really bratty) and faces his back
to me.  He shows me his back for a good long while, then stalks off.

These two behaviours are great. LOL! My Sheba just growls and yowls.
She is real grumpy. Amber usually runs to the bedroom and attacks the
unlucky victim snoozing there. Djoser never gets mad at people or
anyone but Robin. He has been through several phases in the war; but
right now he uses intimidation tactics. He will ambush Robin by
jumping at him and scaring Robin. Without using a claw. He will also
use the Stare to intimidate Sheba from a coveted spot on the bed.
Robin has never exhibited any displeasure at all. He is a very happy
cat.
