Stolen from another news group. I thought this was interesting. You might have some fun. My Max scored 102. Funny because he is a short hair Manx, which had the highest average score for breeds. Well I said he was cute, I never said he was smart.

Head butts to all, Lisa.

couldn't get it using dial-up
Don & Lisa - 02 Mar 2004 02:45 GMT
I use dialup and got it just fine. It took longer than usual, but worked
fine. Sorry you are having trouble, but I don't have any idea of another
address that would work for you.

I know Casey is smarter than Bobby.  Casey will approach my face on the sofa
or bed and turn his body around to be face-to-face while purring and giving
his little meows no matter how uncomfortable he may be.

I tried it on my two Devon Rex cats, they both scored 104... What does it
matter, anyway? They are intelligent enough to be real cats, a combination
of affectionate cats, and completely insane cats, it depends upon the
situation.

IMO, as long as they can eat, drink, groom themselves, use the litter box,
play with me and eachother and give me headbutts and be lap cats once in a
while, and dont hurt eachother, they are intelligent to me...

And don't forget, the most stupid cat in a human's opinion, may be the best
parent out of all...

Well, Smudge scored a 118, "extremely intelligent". I always knew she was
a smart gal! Roxy, sadly, did not fare as well - a 98 ("lower than average").
I knew she wasn't as smart as Smudge, but *lower than average*?? Well, I
guess there are other traits that are just as important as intelligence in
a cat... :)

I haven't tried the test for Licorice, because I don't know the answers
to many of them. I just haven't had him long enough to know how he'd
react to all these situations. But of course, I'm sure he's a genius cat. :)

I figure that if the average IQ is 100, then about half the people I
know must have a two digit IQ, so I think that's fine.  I've known
such people to become fine teachers, engineers, and managers.

Betty scored 92.  She's just not the contemplative or mischievous
type.  She's just a very good, cuddly little kitty-girl.  Especially
lately.

Well, I wasn't about to take the test 7 times, so I just averaged their
responses and used that. The average score of the Fantastic Seven is
120.. :)

Wow, if I had 7 cats with that high an average intelligence, I'd be
afraid! :)

Better watch out that they don't learn how to use can openers.  You
might end up redundant. :)

Why would they when they already have us to do it
for them?

Cats will not reveal their superior intelligence until
Mankind wipes itself out.

Even if cats learn to use can openers, we are probably safe.  Cats
know that it is easier to let the human work for a living and buy the
cat food, instead of the cat having to spend all of its time working.
Also, no one is making cat-sized cars that I know of, so getting the
cat food home from the grocery would be tricky for them.

I took the test twice for Brenna - she's not all that consistent.  Her
high score was 126.  Her low score was 105.  Like I said - not all that
consistent.

The test for cats seems to be geared to curiosity and activeness.
Sheba scored only 90; but I bet she would have scored a bit higher
when she was young and active. Djoser scored 106, less than I figured.
Amber got 119. I knew he was intelligent. But Robin beat him with 124!
Then i did the dog test and Shasta scored 123.

The site took awhile to load and then it popped a box to download
something from Allaire to run the site. Something fusion...java
something.

Exactly what I was thinking when I filled in the test - this is for young
cats. Many years ago, Frank and Nikki would have scored much higher, but
these days, they just don't get that excited very often. And some questions
were just stupid. The water bowl is never empty around here. My cats know
I'm a vegetarian, so they don't come running when I open the fridge door -
they know there is seldom any6thing interesting to them there. Nikki never
ever wakes me up - she sits back and lets Frank do the dirty work. And so
on. (Of course, this has nothing to do with the fact that Frank only scored
99 and Nikki 100. ;o) *I* know exactly how smart they are.)

Mike is also (half) short-haired Manx, and he scored 112, but I don't
believe it.  Mikey's not stupid, but he is not a smart kitty, either.
I am thankful for this every time I read about someone's b*stard cat
tricks, which Mikey's not smart enough to think of/pull off.   ;-)
