I buy our vegetables at an organic farm here in Austin. They have a cute
13 year old black cat called Tubby J. Tupelo who has the run of the farm
and likes to come to the farm stand for scritches (check out the
t-shirts http://www.boggycreekfarm.com/).
Well, turns out he's been under the weather for the past couple of
months. He has inflamated lymph nodes and doesn't eat anything other
than raw beaten eggs. They've taken him to a couple of vets, but they
haven't found what's wrong with him. I've told them to go see my vet,
she's really good and I'm sure she'll help.
In the mean time, if you could spare some purrs for this older
gentlecat, I'm sure they would be most appreciated.

Sorry to hear about Tubby. Not being able to find out what's wrong is
the pits, whether for hoomins or our masters.
Purrs that they'll find a TED that can find out what's happing and

Purrs aplenty for Tubby.....
On a side note, Victor, how does one go about finding if there is an
organic farm locally? We eat lots of vegetables and fruit and I would
love to find an organic farm around here.

I'm not sure really. Where are you located? It took me a while to find
Boggy Creek farm, I can't recall exactly how I found them. A good bet
would be to call your county's extension office or a local garden club.

Currently, we're in SW Ft. Worth but in the next 6 months or so our
home (aka country estate, according to my Mom!) will be finished and
we'll be living outside Azle. The county extension and/or garden
club sound like good ideas. I'll check them out.
Thanks!

Purrs for improvement in Farm Cat's health -- and tell them not to
feed him raw eggs. I read where egg whites are harmful to cats. And
with all we read about salmonella in eggs, why tempt fate.?

I hope they get this poor cat to your vet quickly. It sounds like he
has an infection of some sort. And living on raw eggs is not very
healthy. The high level of albumin in eggs could throw off a CBC test.
Purrs and prayers,

My vet is not taking any new clients, but she refered Carol Ann (Tuby's
slave) to another vet in her practice. Here's the last email I got from
Carol Ann:
Oh my, Victor, when Doctor Dodd saw Tubby, he said, based on the
nasal discharge, it looks like cancer! So, after consulting with us,
we left him there, and he put him under, did x-rays of the mouth and
teeth, lanced the ping pong ball lymph nodes and drained them, put
tubes into them, collected samples of everything to send to the labs,
and then we picked him up late afternoon and brought him home.
The doc said, he's not so sure now that it's cancer, based on all the
infection stuff in the lymph nodes. He did pull one fang and one
molar (He said if he could see cancer on the x-rays, he wouldn't pull
any teeth) and gave him antibiotics. We won't know until the tests
come back which antibiotic he really needs to fight this terrible
infection.
Tubby still won't eat anything save Hen House Eggs (good taste, our
boy has!), and has pulled one tube almost all the way out. The vet
says I can stick it back in, but it's impossible: like a wet noodle.
So I may cut it off real short so he can't pull it all the way out.
We are worn out! But very hopeful that it's not cancer. We won't
know for sure until the results come back NEXT WEEK!
We appreciate your friendship and care. We really liked Dr. Susan
Cauffman (sp?) (phone consultation; she referred us to Dr. Dodd) and
Dr. Dodd (a very experienced and reasonable fellow).
