This morning, as I was leaving for work, I happened to look at my kitchen
window. There was my 7 month old kitten, Chet, pressing the side of his face
against the window, looking so forlorn! I went over to the window and
pressed my fingers against it, and he rubbed the window like he would my
fingers. He is such a sweet boy!

Was he all alone for the day?

No, he had plenty of company! I have several other cats and one d*g.  The
funny thing about Chet aka Chip and his brother Tyrell aka Trill, is that I
grabbed them from their hard stray mom when they were about 3 weeks old. She
had brought them to stay under my camper. I saw them asleep in the tall
grass nearby one day, snuck up on them and grabbed them. Man, did I have a
handful of screaming kittens! My husband came out of our house to see what
had happened - he said he could hear them in the house with all the doors
and windows shut! (The house was about 50 feet away). We brought them in and
kept them in a room till they calmed down, and then integrated them with the
rest of my crew. They are two of the most loving cats I have seen. When I
come home, they lay down on the floor and roll, so I can pet their bellies,
and then I pick them up so they can give me face scrubs.  Silly boys. <G

Do you have any idea what happened to the little mother?  I'm glad the
two babies found a good home.

I wondered about the momma, as well. Course some cats just can't be
trapped, but I'd think about trying, or she may be new kittens a
couple times a year from her, then the kittens will have kittens, then
the kittens' kittens will have kittens, then... Hopefully the OP can
catch her and get her spayed, maybe even find someone who can
socialize her and get her into a good home.
