Snowball's first snowfall

Here in Cornwall, at the South-western tip of the UK, snow is a
rarity, falling only once a year and usually melting right away. But
today it came and stayed, so I hoped that Snowball the Ragdoll
Hoolikitty, now aged 11 months, would enjoy a gambol and a gallop in
the falling and mounting flakes.

Not a bit of it!

Although he didn't seem to notice or mind the flakes that landed in
his luscious coat the cold and wet ground underfoot had him doing that
get-my-paws-off-this-nasty-ground-and-shake-them-dry-one-at-a-time
dance that's so common amongst wimpish kitties. A minute later and he
was was crying to come back indoors, settling immediately in a cosy
chair near a radiator to get warm and dry.

Pretty sensible when you think about it, but I'm sad he didn't enjoy
swiping snowflakes out of the sky or batting lumps around on the
ground. Even sadder not to get any pics, as I had the trusty digicam
primed & ready.

So I'll have to delay updates to his pics until his 1st birthday, when
he'll amuse & astound his audience with his skill in hunting prawns
(his favourite treat): he drags them out of his bowl and tosses them
in the air, then bats them around the whole house with his paws,
finally trapping & eating them when they're nice and dusty.

We don't do snow in the Wirral.

  But!

It is falling: are we about to see some stick for the first time for
ten or twelve years?

I took Nanki Poo out.  After realising why he was getting cold and wet
he dashed for the house.

I tried to find Minke who disappeared.

Of course when I stopped trying to persuade them to go out they went
out.

Isn't there a famous rule for that?

No doubt you did find that beautiful Minke sooner rather than later.

D'oh!  Snowball turns out to be less-than-aptly named ;-)

Luckily (for me) he  still _looks_ exactly like one, particularly when
he's
snuggled up into a little round ball. We went out again this morning
when things were nice & crisp & he enjoyed that rather more: I've put
a few new pictures up, including one of him in the snow, in the
"Snowball's Adolescence" at the URL below:

He's developing the customary control-freak mentality now he's
maturing: rather than hook his paw round an ajar door to open it wide
enough for ingress/egress, he noisily claws at the carpet nearby until
his slave comes and does it for him.
And he likes to see the bath's cold-water tap drip for his amusement:
if I'm in the bathroom he'll go & sit in the bath staring at the
offending tap until I turn it on a touch. He never drinks, just
watches the splashes trickle down the plughole.
