Tanada - 26 Feb 2004 20:40 GMT Tanada is currently sleeping on the top of my monitor, after shedding fur everywhere and glaring at me in disbelief. I did it again. I made the world end. She may not forgive me for a while, this time.
As you all know, we are to blame for anything that happens in the feline world that they dislike. Like most cats, Tanada hates having her world end, and six or more inches of snow qualifies as world ending.
We got one of those strange south/south east storms here, and had snow dumping on the ground in big wet heavy flakes (almost clumps) when Mandy got up for school at seven this morning. She came bouncing into our room to wake us and make sure we knew if school would be canceled. It was. However, so was Rob's intake appointment at Pope AFB where our medical will now be done. Rob only tried for three months to get that appointment. He hasn't begun the battle for mine, yet. Neither of us is looking forward to it, or to Mandy's which also has to be done.
Back to the cats. Most of them took the world ending philosophically, Penelope even went out in it and visited the enclosure for a while. But Tanada is not a philosophical type of cat. She glared at me from the top of the printer for a while.
When that didn't have the desired effect, she climbed on top of Rob's high boy and knocked his Arabic Royal symbol (given to him by one of Saudi's minor royalty, don't ask, the story is a long one) onto the floor. Rob jolted up out of a sound sleep and asked me what I did this time. I told him that I made the world end. I pointed out that the symbol (a brass palm tree with crossed swords and gold tassels) hitting the floor was deliberate. This was greeted with a grunt and a muttered "of course it was an accident. Tanada wouldn't knock anything off the high boy on purpose." I couldn't help it. I giggled.
We all know what happens when the hoomins laugh. Yup. Tanada took it personally. She retreated to the top of my monitor where she glared pensively out at the world falling down. Every so often, a large clump of snow would fall off the enclosure or one of the plants, and she would watch it come down, head following the movement, then glare at it like it was going to come back up and slap her in the face. Then she would glare at me for almost a minute. Hey, I even open the blinds for her so that she could see out without destroying them. What more does she want?
She has made it clear to me that she will not forgive me until her demands are met. I am to make the world stop ending, bring her a can of tuna of her own, stop laughing at her, not let any other cats sleep on her bed, and last but not least, not let Honor in the house ever again. Needless to say, her demands aren't going to be met. I guess I'm in the litter box again.

Don't know what B and C would make of snow, they have never seen it and shudder if the temp drops below 15c!
Bev -- I got rid of my husband. The cat was allergic.
Tanada - 27 Feb 2004 19:04 GMT >> Penelope even went out in it and visited the enclosure for a while. But > > Hey, got any pictures of that enclosure? We got a lot of pictures, but with and without snow. However, all canisters of film are waiting until we get a windfall so that I can afford to develop them and then scan them into my yahoo photo album. I also found some pictures of baby Pine Cone that I want to get in there as well. You can see why we all fell in love with the little monster.

Shame on you, Pam. BTW, after I read your post I had the brilliant idea of telling Mike, Oz, and Tiger that *you* are in charge of the weather, and showed them your post to prove it. None of our kitties have ever seen snow, but since you keep making it be about 35 F and raining day after blasted day, you're in the litterbox here too. :-P

I can understand that you blame Bob when Felix is upset with the weather, but that he has to be the scapegoat for a whole other set of cats. Tsk tsk. ;o)

I won't bring him home as often as he'd like.

Hopitus2 - 28 Feb 2004 06:36 GMT Pine Cone was a baby kitten when you found him at the campground?

Actually, he found us, and he was only 12-16 weeks old. We're pretty sure that he had a run in with a copperhead, as he was terrified of rattling noises for a long time. He's still terrified of vehicles. We think he was tossed out of a car window. He was already a pro at tree climbing, and mooching food. He fell into a batch of pancake batter the first time I made breakfast at the camp. Fortunately, I had another package of batter, and was able to save the day. We found out that he doesn't like baths right away.

Hopitus2 - 03 Mar 2004 21:52 GMT Pine Cone and Blind Terrorist Rowdy have something in common: horrible babyhoods and being thrown from moving vehicles. Rowdy was flung onto a concrete traffic divider, which knocked his left eye out of socket. I've posted already how Bimbo-girl snatched him up and vet put damaged eye back in and how I ended up with him eventually. Rowdy was much younger than PC when he found you; to this day I believe between that trauma plus being declawed soon thereafter added up to a very bad-tempered boy indeed (he bites, but over the years much less now, and loves and snuggles me frequently. Still not a lapcat and hates it when I kiss his face) but he's huge (19#) and pesters the girls endlessly, since he's about 5 and they're pushing 11 and 12 now. He wants to play and they're *so over* that stage.
