Luggage Tag

I have some photos of Persia on Webshots and they offer a variety of things
you can do with your photos.  Since I'm planning to take a trip in the
Spring, and since *everyone* seems to have a grey nubby garment bag that
looks just like mine, I ordered a luggage tag from them to attach to it.

Oh, it's too cute!  And good sized, too.  Persia on one side and I can write
my return info on the other side using a marker.  So if it's lost, or if
it's stacked up in that pile of other bags looking just like it, all I have
to do is look for the photo of Persia :)

Great idea, Jill! My last few trips to Denver by air, I noticed at luggage
arrival levels in terminals that the "in" color for hardside, and most
soft-side as well, luggage is *black*. My hardshell Samsonite rollywheel
bags are indistinguishable from hundreds of others, but several years ago I
tied on bright orange ribbons to handles, giving a strange Halloween decor
effect, but I can jump right up and grab 'em first time around without
alarming anyone else whose black luggage may have been nabbed by mistake. I
suggest something similar for instant recognition......those luggage
rotaters, once they finally get going, move pretty fast around and
around......endlessly.

That's a good idea! I've been wondering how to make my big black suitcase
distinguishablöe from other big black suitcases. I had been thinking about
cutting out a big profile of a cat in some neon-coloured tape and stick it
on the sides. Ah well, I'm not travelling anywhere in the near future.

Stick the big cat on your luggage, Marina; anything to catch your eye on the
moving cartwalk. It won't make your bags more likely to be searched....the
TSA sees stranger things than that during a workday.

Just don't have any wires sticking out from the edge of the bag. :)
That would probably put a serious delay in your trip.

Your idea is a good one, too!  Probably better, since Persia is grey and
sort of "matches" my garment bag LOL

Just ordered new luggage :)  Great discount; needed some new stuff anyway.
This is hunter green (yes, I could have ordred red or even pink!)  A friend
borrowed one of my bags a couple of years ago and over-stuffed it and tore
the fabric, so I figure I'm due.  Now the Persia tag will stand out even
more :)

I use a couple of colored zip ties that are normally used for wires.  I
use soft luggage and run the ties through the zipper slides to hold it
closed.  If the bag needs to be opened they can do it easily but I know
about it.  I put another one around the carrying handle.

I have 3 pieces of the rollaway type suitcases that are all black.  They would
look just like everyone else's luggage except they have bright red cherry's all
over them!  Can't miss 'em.  Lots of people comment when they come out of the
chute.  They are very fun.  On my old, beat up, dark green, hard side Samsonite
luggage I used a black sharpie marker to draw a kitty face on each side and used
a bright colored tag.  Had no problem finding those in a sea of luggage!

That's a great idea!  When my mother came to visit me in December, I was
helping her watch for her luggage.  There was a large crowd around the
conveyor belt, and people tried to help each other.  Somebody asked
another person what their bag looked like.  The resigned response was,
"Black with wheels."  I think 90% of the bags on the belt were black
with wheels.  Well, at least 75%.

Makes you want to run out and buy 'Barbie-pink' luggage, doesn't it?! :)

Really!  And I thought my black bags were so smart when I got them.  :-(

Oh, I agree that black luggage is the way to go....smart, indeed. But so
does everyone else.

Okay, so I just ordered forest green luggage :)  What the hey, I needed some
new stuff :)  That + the Persia tag, should be fairly easy to find.

I already have a pink suitcase with grey handles.   Really
stands out on the luggage conveyer.

Except for the remaining "everyone" who have dark-green roll-on cases!
(But I agree, they all look alike on a baggage carousel - one needs
something to distiguish one's own.)

Magic Mood Jeep? - 22 Feb 2004 20:52 GMT
My mother has a trick for the 'generic' looking luggage:  Firmly tie an
extra-bright piece of ribbon or cloth (she actually crocheted her own  in a
bright green color) to the handle of each piece of luggage.  Make sure it's
an unusual color so you can tell your from the luggage of others that do
this same thing.  Also make sure it's not so long that it gets caught in the
machinery & torn off.  I remember one time some people had even used a
fluorescent dog collar on theirs (stronger than ribbon & harder to break -
plus you can attach more 'tags' to it)!  I've seen some suitcases with what
looked like bright colored belts wrapped around them (supposedly to help
keep them closed - we know that luggage handlers are as gentle with our
luggage as UPS or the Postal Service is with our packages;) - as well as to
identify).
