My other half and I decided sometime ago that we should get another cat...we
both decided that a grey kitten would be ideal!!
SOOO....yesterday there were a litter of 6 week old grey kittens to be given
away (microchipped, vaccinated and desexed)....where I work....SOO...I raced
over there and as I got to the building there was a lady leaving, with a
little grey kitten (soooo cute). So I rushed in and to my delight there was
one left...a little girl...I played with her for a whole and started
figuring out names (Smokie, Garfield, Yoda)....when the lady that had them
came in and promptly told me she had just gotten off the phone to another
lady who wanted to confirm that she would take the little one....DAMN...if
only I had rung ahead!!
hmmmph..I hate when that happens!!

Microchipped, vaccinated and desexed at six weeks? I don't think
so.

Sorry....I meant....all those would be paid for when the kitten was old
enough....
The lady that had them is a vet

Then why on earth was she separating them from their mom so young?
That's unexcusable!

:( Like our Fez and Rufous, except that we got them when they were
about 4 weeks old. Poor little ones!!!
Still, she should've kept them together in a foster home until they were
older.

Hey, don't worry! Marina's niece has a whole bunch of grey kittens right
now, they should be ready in another couple of months ;-)

Sorry that you and your other half (OH?) missed out on the grey baby.
Glad to hear, though, that the lady found homes for all of them. I'm
sure that when you least expect it a grey furry personality will adopt
you.
Of the kittens we fostered for the RSPCA, two of them were adopted out
at 5 and 6 weeks. It was agreed that it's not ideal, but at the time
it was a choice between them going to good forever-homes or not being
re-homed at all.
For the folks not in Australia, adopting out kittens at 6 weeks is
still common. It is gradually becoming recognized that 10 weeks is
better and I think most of the breeders of pure-breds adopt at 10 or
12 weeks, but it will take some time for it to become commonplace.
Cheers,
Tish

When my lovely grey cat, Persia, adopted me, she was about 2 years old.
When I first took her to the vet the vet's assistant said "Oh my, I've been
looking for a cat just like this one! Female all grey cats are hard to
find." Well, you can't have her ;o)
But Gizela, good luck in your search! Persia is the sweetest, cleverist,
best thing to come into my life in a long time :)

That's a pity. Good that all the kittens got homes, though.
But didn't you write that Gizmo would not like another cat so you were not
to have one?
