Stacey contacted me and told me she has posted some pics of the kittens she
is visiting in her folder (stacey) on Catslaves. They are titled South
Carolina Kittens. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to access Catslaves for
a few days, so I can't check them out, but hope everyone else can.
Also, my niece sent me some pics of Kira and her newborn kittens. I posted
them on my yahoo account at

I can't believe goofy little Kira is all mature and a mother now! Doesn't
she look grown-up?

Is Kira a Russian Blue? She's an absolute dead ringer for my Emily, except
Emily has a tuft of white under her chin. Emily came from a pet shop, so she
probably isn't pedigree (unless a breeder offloaded a non-perfect specimen)
but she looks so like Kira its uncanny.

Yes, she is a Russian Blue. You can see more pics of her and my niece's
other RB, Kasper, at http://mia.daug.net/. Click on the Union Jack for the
pages in English.

Marina, who realised maybe she shouldn't use the acronym for Russian Blue

How cute and fuzzy the little kittens are, and what a good mommy!
That seemed like a pretty quick pregnancy. It seemed like one minute,
it was "Is she pregnant, or isn't she?" and the next minute, kittens!
I want to see hundreds more pictures, with the kittens being weighed,
kittens sacked out, etc. :)

Cats' gestation period is around two months (I forget the exact amount of
weeks), so yes, it's quick. I'm sure all the mothers here wish humans'
gestation was as quick. :o)

I'm sure there will be pics galore - this cat-picture-taking gene seems to
run in the family. My niece said she even took pics while the kittens were
being born.

IIRC, about 9 weeks [63 days] is considered a normal feline pregnancy.
Lois would know. :-)

Wish it was 63 days for us humans too :-)

Just be glad you're not an elephant! :) (I know, you probably feel like
one, right?) Isn't their gestation period something like two years??

It seems everything from 58 to 70 days is considered normal. But I think 63
to 65 is the average.
I found a link where you can make your own "Gestation Calendar", telling you
what is happening to the cat all the time from the first mating until the
kittens arrive...
http://www.dataweb.nl/~sham/misc7.html
You should also try the cat quiz! How much do you know about cats? The first
questions are quite easy, but...

LOL, I kept clicking "next", and thinking, "these pictures all look so
similar". Then I noticed that they are linked in a cycle, so that pic
#3 points back to #1. I had started over without realizing it! :)
I love how fuzzy and grey they all are!! I want a Russian Blue! Or at
least, a mix with Russian Blue in it. (but definitely with that fuzzy
grey fur!)

Kia is *gorgeous* and those wee tiny little kits... And I've always had a
