Thank you to all of you wonderful people for your purrs and prayers.
After almost 3 months the doctors finally have diagnosed my son's
medical problems.  It's GALL BLADDER disease.  Grrrrrrrr!  Why
couldn't they have found the problem back in November instead of
scaring us all with that stupid erronious diagnosis.  People have
lived without a gall bladder for years.

Good new, though!  I'm so glad to learn it wasn't worse.  Thanks for
updating us.

He has had all sorts of tests done with 2 different doctors, and they
finally came up with the gall bladder diagnosis. He said he felt like
an anemic pin cushion from all of the blood tests (one of them took 7
vials of blood).   I'm not a doctor, but I said all along that it
sounded like gall bladder to me.

That's terrible and wonderful at the same time, Nan! To give you all a
fright like that! Well, you must be relieved now, at least. Many purrs to
soothe your souls.

Thanks for the update. It's too bad it took so long to diagnose the problem,
but it was good that you hung in there until you found the answer instead of
just caving in and believing the first diagnosis.  I'm glad it turned out to
be something that could be managed.

Gall bladder disease can be difficult to diagnose.

Having one removed is pretty simple with "keyhole" surgery.

And being without one is no big deal at all.  Requires no changes in
lifestyle etc, at all.

The new style surgery is a breeze compared to the old method.  I've
been without one for 25 +  years.   A neighbor had the new method and
she was busy going places in a few days.  Best of luck.   MLB

I had my gallbladder out late last Fall and although it is taking a while
for my body to adjust in the digestive department, all in all it wasn't as
bad as some surgeries I have had.  In fact, it was pretty smooth.  I had one
of those "keyhole" type surgeries and for one week I was moving kind of
slow, the second week getting better, and was back to work the third week.
OK, so I am a wuse. LOL  Some people go back to work the second week, but I
had the time available and took it.  I know your son will do well if he has
his gallbladder removed.  Like everyone says---no big deal.

Thank you.  I know that it's no big deal now.  My dad had it 40+ years
ago before the 'keyhole' surgery, and had no problems.  The guy who
worked on our boat was crawling around in the boat the day he came
home after the surgery (we didn't realize that he had just had surgery
when we took the boat in).

I am glad to read that he at last has a definitive diagnosis, and that
it's something with a fairly straightforward treatment.  We are
sending purrs for his complete recovery.

Thank you.  It's too bad though that they couldn't have come up with
this diagnosis 3 months ago.

Indeed - but *having* gall bladder disease is very painful
and upsetting.  BTDT.

You're right it is very painful.  He is really looking forward to
having all of this behind him.  He's been having this problem with
abdominal pain and pressure and nausea for 3 months.

Hi Nan,

I can sympathize with him! It took my drs a year to diagnose my gallbladder
problem! My GP was the only one during that time that believed me, even when
all the tests came out negative. They finally sent me to a surgeon who
decided to operate even though the tests were normal. He said that my
gallbladder was *very* scarred from long term infection, and that he
literally had to peel it off my liver. I was lucky in that they were able to
do the "keyhole" surgery and was back at work in about 10 days.

Good luck to him!

Thanks, Patti.

When my dad was finally diagnosed with gallstones 40 plus years ago,
his doctor had thought that he had had another heart attack, and had
him in the hospital for said heart attack.  They couldn't understand
why the EKG didn't show any new damage.  The doctor finally called in
an internal medicine specialist for a consultation.  The internal
medicine guy took one look, said gallstones, and scheduled him for
surgery immediately.
