We are now almost three weeks into our life with this adorable,
strong-minded, willful, destructive, affectionate, gorgeous little lady.

The only problem we have, since she has been declared healthy and able
to join the cat society (beside picking up broken shards here and
there!), is with her name.

Destiny is her "real" name.   (I don't know what her cat name is, but it
is probably something like "The Terminator.")   The thing is, she
doesn't answer to Destiny.   For this reason, we have tried every name
two inventive ladies can think of  --  with little success.

The only name she seems to respond to at all is .....  Rosie!   This
would not be my first choice  (I would prefer something like "Twinkle
Afar!), but hey!   It's HER name, right?   She responds to this sound
just as she responds to Baby (our Calico lady)  --   as something
familiar to her from her first few short months of life.

Naming a new kitty has never presented much of a problem to me.   This
one may be more difficult!

And such is life in Cat Country!

I suppose she knows best. If she says Rosie, Rosie it is.
Maybe you could modify it just a little? Posey. Nosy. Cosy....

Given one of the basics of cat nature, I'd opt for "Nosy"!

Or Cat, or twinkle toes, I'm hopeless at naming cats too, look
what I did to *Wilson,*           Jean P.

You have cats who actually ANSWER to their names?  Count your blessings!

That's what I thought!! Out of *all* the cats I've ever had in my whole, life,
Yoda is the only one who knows his name. Usually we call him "Yo." Bootsie
probably knows her name, she is my smartest cat, but she likes to ignore me.

Felix has been known to come when called. One time when Bob was
staying overnight at his parents' house, when I went to bed, I told
Felix, "I'm going to bed now", and he beat me into the bedroom, then
looked at me from his preferred spot like "what took you so long?"

Birdbrain occasionally turns his head when he hears his name.

When I first was adopted by Persia, I just called her "cat".  Silly me, I
had no intentions of keeping her.  Then on day 3 I was looking at her and
the name "Persia" just popped into my head.  I said out loud, "Persia!" and
she immediately turned and came running towards me.  Ever since, she will
only answer to that.  You may not like "Rosie", but your girl does.  So go
with it :)

Having seen The African Queen on Turner Classic Movies last night, and
then reading your description of this cat, I'd say "Rosie" is a
perfectly fitting name.

"Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one
elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and
splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."
