Mischief - 02 Feb 2004 21:44 GMT Mischief and Imp got their claws clipped and Advantage put on.
Mischief: Yawn! Hey, what's going on? Why are you taking me out of my tower? I was all comfy and.....HEY!! Oh no, not the bathroom!! Please, Mama Kristi.....DON'T SHUT THE DOOR!! Damn I know what this means...... HEY, those are my claws!! Why are you clipping my beautiful claws? I need those! Please, stop! I promise I won't puke on the rug again. Oh, my beautiful claws!
Okay, fine, you're done. Now, OPEN THE DAMN DOOR AND LET ME OUTTA HERE!!!
Now what are you......AWWWW NONONONONO!! I hate this icky stuff on the back of my head. It feels so gross. Why do I have to go through this every MONTH!
LET ME OUT LET ME OUT!
FINALLY, but now I have to spend hours washing myself to get his gunk off my neck! Stupid human!!
Imp: What's going on? AHHHH!! RUN AND HIDE! THE HUMAN IS TRYING TO GET ME! Whew! they won't get me under the bed.
(an hour later, he goes to my roommate)
Can I get some scritches? Ok, I'll settle for being picked up... HEY! Why is Mama Kristi walking up to us? Something's up, I know their plotting against me......NO!! NOT THE BATHROOM!!! DON'T LEAVE ME HERE WITH THE EVIL HUMAN!
I should have know it was a trick. The humans tricked me again and now you're going to clip my claws. My poor, precious claws! Fine, just get it over with.
Okay your done, now let me.....aw man, not the cold, icky stuff. This isnt fair!
(leaving the bathroom pouting) the humans tricked me again, it's not fair. No, you can wave that treat all you want, I'm going under the bed and I'm NOT coming out. You humans are always tricking me, it's not fair.

You humans are always tricking me, it's >not fair. Sounds awfully familiar, although I don't clip the claws. Rocky isn't any trouble, as I do him outside and he doesn't mind the drops. I can't dose them all on the same day - Little Bit always goes first and she runs back and tells Sammy, who disappears for a while.

<chuckle> That was really cute! Especially the part about your roommate being in on the plot.
And you just reminded me that it's time to Advantage my gang too. (Yes, "Advantage" is a verb. :))

Mischief - 03 Feb 2004 08:11 GMT Imp has always been skittish, but he's always been a little more open to the affections of my roommate. That's why when I have to do this, I get her to pick him up, causehe won't let ME pick him up.
I ask him, "What's your problem? I'm the one that feeds you and cleans your litterbox, and I give you scritches when you want them, so don't you love me?"
I figure it's BECAUSE I also clip his claws and put on advantage, that he views me as the EVIL human and my roommate as the NICE human. He sleeps mainly in her room, lets her pick him up and cuddle him, and lately he will walk up to her while she's at the computer and just sit there, using telepathy to let her know she can pick him up. Sheesh! When I try to do that he runs away.
Hmph!

Victor Martinez - 03 Feb 2004 00:11 GMT You just reminded me it's time to give our cats their monthly dose of Revolution. The first one is easy, and we usually choose Maya because she is the loudest complainer. However, if she sees me coming and hears the noise the little applicator makes when you break the seal, she'll take off and hide. Once she does that, the rest of the gang realize something's up and won't come when called. I sometimes have to wait a couple of hours to get the last two or three... :)

badwilson - 03 Feb 2004 03:27 GMT Wow, Vino's so different when it comes to the claw clipping (I don't do the Advantage, so don't know how he'd react to that). With Vino it's more like this:
"Ohhhh, getting picked up! Yay, maybe she'll carry me around, my favorite activity. Aaargh, no, she's sitting down, dammit. Oh well, it's still attention, I'll take it. Ohhhh, she's playing with my paws! Yeeeeehhhhhhaaaa! Oooooohhhhh, oooooooh, oooooh! This is great! Oh, she's tickling my tummy, yay! This all feels sooooo good."
When I'm down to the last 2 claws:
"Ok, enough of this. I'm fed up with all this attention. I need off her lap, I need to get away! Why does she always want to play with me for so long? Sheesh! Oh well, I might as well let her finish, there's no point in fighing it."
When I'm all done:
"Where's my treat??? I'm starved! All this attention she forced upon me has made me hungry!" -- Britta Check out pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on the Vino album
John Biltz - 03 Feb 2004 04:22 GMT I never clip claws. Maya does not allow me to touch her feet and can get very testy about it. I can make her get up and move just by quick touches at her feet. She will move them once or twice and then will get up and leave managing to express extreme disgust with every motion. Bruiser would probably let me do it but they are both active outdoors cats who climb trees and concrete block wall and walk on concrete sidewalks. So it is not a real issue and its dangerous enough out there and Maya gets in so many conflicts with other cats that disarming them just doesn't seem like a good idea.

My cats would take my hand off before letting me clip their claws. (Well, I can usually get away with 3 or 4 claws with Roxy before she starts squirming and complaining, but the other two cats? No way!)

We have not tried to clip the little one's claws yet. And we wouldn't dare try it with Xoxo... :)

[quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > clip the little one's claws yet. And we wouldn't dare try it with Xoxo... :) We started with Vino very shortly after we got him, maybe at about 8 or 9 weeks old. So he's used to it! I like to keep them clipped because when they get long, he tends to hook his paws into the upholstery or curtains or window screens and can't get himself un-stuck! I worry about what would happen if he got stuck while we were away. I clip about every 2-3 weeks. But I have a very strong suspicion that Vino's father was a Ragdoll. The people we got him from said he was a Birman, but I saw him from a distance of about 15 feet and he looked like a Ragdoll to me. Maybe that's why Vino is so easy going? -- Britta Check out pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on the Vino album
