I remember reading about a natural product that you added to the cats'
water to help them relax when they're stressed. Is there such a thing or
did my mind make it up? Luna's bald patch in her tummy is growing and
I'm getting more concerned. It's still not bloody or irritated or
anything like that, but she's obviously not ok.
Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Was it Bach's Rescue Remedy, maybe?
Say, does she do that when she is stressed? I am asking because Yoda has
started to chew the hair off the inside of his front leg. We babysat the
grandcat for two weeks and that's when it started.

The vet thinks it's stress and so do I. When we first discovered it, I
looked at my vet care book and it doesn't look like any of the photos
they had describing all kinds of skin conditions. That's why I think
it's stress. Well, that and the fact that the boys have taken the hobby
of chasing her around the house and making her mad.

I've found Rescue Remedy (Bach's Flower Remedy) helps a little against
Frank's nightly howling. You put a few drops in their drinking water.
I was a bit surprised when I got the bottle, though, because when I opened
it it smelled distinctly of... brandy! And it is, over 90% brandy, but since
you only put a few drops into a big bowl of water, it is diluted pretty
much.

Have you considered contact allergy? Where does she spend her time --
carpet, chair, etc? The material may cause the problem.
This happened to my cat when I gave her a foam pillow to sleep on, It
cleared right away when I threw it out.

I don't think it's an allergy, it doesn't look like regular allergic
reactions look. Besides, we haven't changed anything in the house, no
new furniture or anything like that.
She also has a bald spot in one of her legs.

Have you considered a Flyway dispenser? Have heard a lot of good about that,
not least when used in homes with several cats. I have only used the spray
for special occasions with mine, works good too.
Have you had her checked? I am not sure if you have posted about that since
I have only marginally been keeping up on rpca lately.
Have you ruled out any medical problems, allergies?
Purrs for Luna to be furry all over!

I'd have the vet check it out. He/she might try some cortisone to see if it
is allergic rather than stress.
We had a Siamese that pulled the fur out of his (injured) back leg every
spring. The combination of scaring and some allergy caused it. He got a
steroid shot every spring and it cleared it up.
Is Luna one of your Siamese? They seem to have more allergies than other
cats.

We'll try that if the natural remedy doesn't work. It's not bothering
her at all, so I'm ok waiting before taking her for shots or something
more drastic.

She's a bengal. The boys are Tonkinese (half siamese, half burmese).

If you are thinking about Bach Flowers, I think
Crab Apple would work better than Rescue Remedy
for a bald patch.
See here:

p.s. I would not try the rescue cream. it smells
too much of marketing to me to try it an an animal
who can't tell you how it feels....
ciao :)

I've used Rescue Remedy in the cat's water. It had no effect on Tiffy,
however, Romeo was very mellow. :-)
