Hi all:

We don't understand what's going on with Chester.  Once or twice, maybe, but
nightly for over a month?

The first time we heard the sound of him retching, we were both in deep REM
sleep.  We woke up.  Straight up.  Six feet above the bed with legs spinning
like on the Flinstones.  Both thinking the same thing "NEW CARPET!!!!!!!!!"
We finally found him in the bathroom with his neck high-centered on the
garbage can.  He was leaning in trying to see something and gagging himself.

He's been doing harmless and non-productive garbage can retching every night
since ?????

Hmm. Me thinks it's time to move the can or get a lower one!

Or a higher one, so he can't REACH the rim?

Or maybe a can with a lid?
(Ha ha, loved that reference to the Flintstones and the legs.)

And leave him with no other choice but the new carpet?

Ahh.. that doesn't always work.. we have a can with a lid and it took Moogie
only one day of observing the hoomins opening it to learn that all he had to
do was stand up and push the little lever to pop the top. He always looks
very pleased with himself, too. :)

What a smart kitty! He should be pleased with himself.
Best wishes,

ROFL! What in the world does he think he is doing? Maybe he enjoys
gagging...

It seems to me that Chester found a surefire way to get attention in
the middle of the night. Sometimes my dog will think she is being
ignored and will start retching. As soon as she is rushed outside, the
retching mysteriously disappears.
