I walked past the painting room, glanced in -- and there was Duffy (my
wonderful little blind cat) *ON TOP OF MY PAINTING* that was balanced on the
artist's easel. How in the world does he do this??? I ran to the next room
and grabbed a camera. As luck would have it, Murphy's Law was in full
force; and I couldn't see anything through the eyefinder on the camera. I
tried several times, and it was clear that Duffy was going to jump down. So
I just aimed it as best I could without seeing anything and got two shots.
Duffy came scrambling down, and the camera worked fine after I turned it off
and then back on. Fortunately, I did get two pretty decent pictures
considering that I couldn't see anything (attached). It's a good thing the
painting is dry because he scraped all the length of the painting as he came
down to the floor.

Duffy is absolutely amazing! He's beautiful!! Thanks so much for
sharing with us....
As for adopting "special needs" kitties, both my SO and I have had
much experience with "special" kits, and so we've decided that when we
have room again, we'll probably take a hard to place Siamese from the
local Siamese rescue society. Perhaps even 2....<grin>...can you
imagine.....2 Siamese?!?!?!?
Anyhow, thanks again for sharing Duffy and Holly....

Wow! Duffy is one super-cat! Maybe he flew up there, but then had to
take the hard way down, since you were watching?

Great shots, Mary, for not having seen through the viewfinder! Duffy is
just amazing to me.
Scritches for him! And I'm glad he didn't ruin your painting, too!

I think he must have climbed up the back of the easel an then onto the top
of the frame. There are some cross-pieces for support behind the canvas,
and that is the only possible access I can see. It's fortunate that the
paint was dry. Otherwise, I would have had a paint-covered Duffy to show
(and worry about) next.

OK, OK, Duffy's great--we all know that, but that painting?!?!?!? That
painting is *beautiful*!!!!
Just kidding. No, not about the painting; it really is beautiful. But I
was kidding about pooh-poohing Duffy's accomplishment! He really is great!
I would love to see a video of how he managed to perch himself on that
painting. Do you think he climbed up the back of the easel? Jumped from
the table or curtains? My cat can see and she can't even get up that high!
What a feat!
And I think you'd better start putting glass in all your picture frames :-).

Yes, I think he climbed up the back of the easel, although even that is
difficult to fathom. There are a couple of stabilizing cross-pieces on the
easel behind the canvas, but they are far enough apart that he would have
needed a real stretch to maneuver them. I think that's the only
possibility, though. The little table is a light weight TV tray that would
have toppled if he tried to use it for support, and the window is too far
away (and covered with curtains).
Thanks for the compliments. I'll have to keep an eye on that easel. That's
where I paint, and I may need to store the wet canvases elsewhere now that I
know Duffy has found another place to play. Fortunately, the one in the
picture was dry and was only placed there temporarily until I get around to
hanging it.

Thanks, on both points. Duffy is an absolutely adorable cat, in both looks
and temperament. The painting is one of my own. I have been painting for
about three years.

Yeah, I'm curious too! I've been away for a couple of days and clicked on

Hi Britta,
No, the pictures are still there. I don't know why that link is returning
an error message but will try to find out. However, you can see the same
pictures if you go to the second link under my signature and scroll down to
the bottom. The last two pictures in that album are the ones I referred to.

My apologies! I just tried the link and also got the "file not found" error
message. I'll have to look into it. In the meantime, if you use the second
link under my signature (below) and scroll down to the bottom, the last two
pictures are the ones I wrote about. (That way, you'll get to see a lot of

Mary, the error is on the part of Picturetrail. www.picturetrail.com
resolves to an invalid IP address, which means that somebody there
goofed up and published that invalid IP to the Internet.
However, if somebody types http://64.124.89.80, they can get to the
site. If you provide your member name, they can look up your albums.

The links I used (that have apparently changed) were to the two individual
