I was in the same boat - was layed off - a few months ago until they hired me back. Though at least you have some warning. The only grooming (friend has $ and pays regularly to have all 3 of her furry dictators (1 Persian, 2 Himmies) groomed and trimmed) that gets rid of that spinal ridge of fur is giving Odie the "lion cut" - close-shaved except for head, paws, and tail end, which she usually has done for him in summer just because he's more comfortable that way. As of this afternoon, I am no longer employed. It's weird, I'm not all that upset (though the job market sucks), almost relieved. I'd worked for this company since 1998, and I was never really comfortable (although I did like some of my coworkers). So I guess now I need to switch those "keep the job" purrs to "find a job" purrs.....
