We are now going through the next phase of Buster's adoption, although
this time between Little Feet and Buster.

At first, Little Feet seemed pretty excited that Buster was staying in
more, and even watched for him when Buster went outside.

Now that Buster is staying inside almost all the time, I think Little
Feet is wondering why; Little Feet has started acting like a bully
occasionally.

One day, I caught Little Feet walking around with his tail all fluffed
out, and Buster hidingbehind the chair by the window. Another time,
Buster was cowering in the corner near the food bowls, while Little
Feet faced him down. I sat down with Buster and told him he could eat
here too, keeping watch that Little Feet doesn't disturb him.

Last night, Buster and I were lying down on the bed. I was reading,
and Buster would grab my hand every now and then to tell me I wasn't
keeping his ears well-skritched enough.

So I would skritch Buster's ears, then rub his tummy. Finally, he
started playing four-legged tummy trap with me, lightly biting my
fingers. Until he started getting too excited...

When I backed out and told him we needed to calm down, Little Feet
came storming into the room, tail all fluffed out, giving Buster the
eye of death.

Buster went low to the matress, and scooted up under the protection of
my arm (grin).

So obviously, Little Feet sees himself as my protector, and Buster
sees me as his protector (big grin).

Looks like jealousy is starting to set in as well, although I really
try to give Little Feet extra attention too.

Hugs and Purrs,
Mark

Sounds a bit like Pearl and Grant. We had a bit of dust up last night but
not as bad as has happened before. I'll tell you one thing. They would
*never* be OK if we didn't have a feliway diffuser.

Sounds like fun to me.  I, of course, only have my Little Bit because of
her health situation........ and mine.  I envy you the two cats,
watching the development of the 'pecking system' and so on.  I enjoy
reading the posts when y'all tell about your fur babies playing,
'fighting', getting into trouble and all the things that multiple cat
families do.  Maybe some day I'll be lucky enough to have two babies to
watch.  I know that Little Bit gets lonely at times, but I also know
that she isn't healthy enough to have the energy to go through all that
she would with a playmate.  She and I have similar problems in that
area.  I suffer from an energy crisis when I just have a visitor, let
alone if I had someone else living here !!!!!!  LOL  Thanks for sharing
Little Feet and Buster's adventures !!!!!  I really enjoyed reading your
post, Mark.

Purrs & Hugs,

BlueBird & Little Bit
The older I get.......... the better I was !!

Well, Little Feet does have seniority. Someone has to be alphacat and
he thinks it might as well be him. He will probably settle down when
he is convinced that Buster acknowedges his(Little Feet) vast
superiority. Although Buster might have to grovel a bit. ;-)

Robin and Djoser have mostly worked out their hierarchy with Djoser as
Betacat and Robin as Gammacat. Amber, of course, is Alphacat. Poor
Sheba is Delta. but, being the only female, the Delta position is not
a bad placement. Sometimes she is Amber's consort. Whew! These ranking
wars can be complicated. ;-)
