In the last few weeks it has started to look like Bruiser and Maya may
end up buddies. The problem has always been Maya. From the start
Bruiser has always wanted to be Maya's buddy. Well for that matter,
Bruiser wants to be everyone's buddy. The big guy just doesn't
understand hostility, it really confuses him. Maya understands
hostility. She studied it, embraced the concept and has never been
afraid to express it. Its been awhile since I saw Maya hiss at him and
lately she has taken to sniffing the end of his tail and they almost
touch noses without hissing. Maya has been generally a lot more mellow.
She has jumped up on me purring for skritches every day for the last few
days. Thats a lot for her even pre-Bruiser. Also she is a lot less
territorial, its been weeks since she has been in a fight with any of the
neighborhood cats, not even a screaming match. I am pretty sure that is
a record.

I must have jinxed it. Not sure what set it off since it was in the
other room but Maya decided Bruiser needed to be told his place in the
universe this evening. I imagine he had it coming. He usually does. He
came into the living room with his "What did I do" look on his face.

Aww, poor Bruiser. Purrs that Maya calms down again.

I think they'll end up buddies. From my experience with Frank & Bootsie. Or, at
least *Frank* thinks they're buddies. Bootsie's take on the relationship is
more like "I tolerate him."

That's good to hear that they are starting to get along.
