I wasn't asking for so very much, after all. I only wanted nice warm
weather for 4 days while we were on his end of Florida. But noooo.... he
couldn't even do such a simple thing as that :D
Actually, the weather wasn't so very bad on Friday, warm enough for
shorts and T-shirt then Saturday and Sunday it got really cold and then
cleared up and warmed up some on Monday when we left.
We had a fairly nice trip. On the start of the race there was a horrific
crash that took out half the field. One of the cars on the second row
attempted a pass just before the Start/Finish line and moved over to
complete the pass but hadn't quite made it pass the other car. Second
car hit him and turned him around and into the wall where he promptly
bounced back into traffic causing a huge pile up of cars. Fortunately,
DH was in the row behind and managed to squeeze through before everyone
piled up. Unfortunately, someone moved over on him with 3 laps to go
while he was in the lead and hit him wheels to wheels, bending rims on
our car and causing flat tires that took DH out of the race. Oh well,
that's racing.
But I really posted to tell you about the kitties I met this weekend.
Some folks in our class had a 'beginning of the year party" which we
attended. I must have mentioned our cats because next thing I knew I
was inside the motorhome checking out the cats that had come along.
There was a beautiful, purebred Somali named Asia. She was curled up
on a chair just inside the doorway of the motorhome. She allowed me to
pet her for about one minute then had had enough and bared her teeth and
hissed and took a swipe at me with her claws. Her slave told me that
when she has had all the petting that she desires then that is it, no
more from anyone. I felt better when she took a swipe at her slave a
little later.
Then there was a beautiful solid black cat with golden eyes which my
friend had raised from a bottle and a very pretty brown tabby. They
were both asleep together on the bed in the back of the motorhome. I
have thought about it and thought about it and have come to the
conclusion that there is absolutely no way that Hobbes, Selena nor Lacey
would be happy in a motorhome at a race track with a lot of strangers
coming in and out. They would all be under the bed! Especially as the
night wore on and one or two of the guests became drunkenly obnoxious!
Oh well, they were all beautiful cats.
I also almost came home with a golden retriever type puppy. He was at a
service station wandering around with a broken leash on his collar.
Poor baby only wanted his family. A white car pulled in and I watched
as his ears perked up and his tail began wagging and he ran to the car.
One problem - it wasn't his family. When we got ready to leave I tried
to find him to check his collar for a tag but he had run behind the
building and disappeared. He looked well fed so I'm hoping he lived
somewhere in the neighborhood and had just gotten temporarily lost.
I'm working my way through all the messages and sending purrs and
prayers where requested. Hope everyone is feeling better now but will
send those healing purrs anyway.
It sure is good to be home with Hobbes, Selena and Lacey. They are
doing fine but obviously are happy we are home again.

LOL (Snort) Hopitus apologizes profusely for your disappointment in the
Sebring weather while racing days happened for you all.....but I thought you
wanted sun and lack of rain - good weather where I come from - *not* to be
warm while here. Well, weren't you warmer than you are where you came from?
Next time specify if you wanna be hot. FYI we are kinda chilly down here;
the meatloafs are nice and snuggy to cuddle up to at night when we have 50's
outside a lot lately. Last year there were like 2 cold days and that was it
all winter. It is rather nice to be chilly in winter for more than a few
days in this locale - pretty rare. Just ask Zoran the Lynx down in Miami;
he'll agree with me (I don't, however, know if he enjoys being chilly
lately!).
I am relieved your DH suffered no injury from his crash while racing. I used
to meet traveler cats ensconced comfortably in motor homes parked outside
local cat show venues when we used to go frequently to shows in area. Cats
are amazingly good travelers when they're used to it like those you met and
the cat show contestants. But traveling cross-country with a group of 3
inside cats in a 2-vehicle caravan was *NO FUN* I can tell you. That was
late '87 and the memory is still fresh in my mind.....were we glad to arrive
in south FL finally.
