My brother and his wife took in stray cats and kept them, accumulating more
than 10 cats.
His wife died Dec 3, 2003 and my brother is not able to take care of all
these by himself, he is over 70 and in poor health and we need to get this
down to one or two cats.
He lives in a small town in Oklahoma.  The local animal-control officer
kills 95% of the animals he takes.
I contacted the closest Humane society which is in Stillwater, OK but they
refuse to take any animals not in their immediate area. (Same county)
An ad placed in local paper managed to give away one cat.
Any other suggestions, or adopters from this area?

You might try e-mailing Best Friends, in Utah.  (I'm not suggesting
they'd take the cats, but they could refer you to adoption organizations
in your area.)  Their web page address is: http://www.bestfriends.org,
e-mail:  info@bestfriends.org

Try Pets & People in Yukon--they are a wonderful organization -- they are the
ones who hold the adopt-a-thons every weekend at Petsmart in the city and have
an extensive foster program. Closer to you is Free to Live in Edmond; they are
no-kill also so I am not sure about space available. We are about 100 miles
south of you.   We are not 100%  no-kill, but don't euthanize healthy,
adoptable animals and don't have a time limit on how long we keep them. . We
have a county-only policy, too, but another policy that over-rides it is that
we *never* under any circumstances turn away any animal in need, for any
reason. Let me know.

Oh, I'm sorry, Tony. Just take out the "kitty" part so it would be:  sriddles
at aol dot com
I munged it that way to try to cut down on spam generated from newsgroup
postings.
