Tiffany cat lamp?

Peter King - 25 Nov 2003 16:33 GMT Greetings to all!
I've lurked here on occasion, but haven't had the time to participate. I've read enough to know that the participants here are certainly the most helpful cat experts there are! (How's that for buttering up?)
Of course, I have to let you know about our cat, Chessie, before I get to my question. Her story is at: http://www.fshobby.com/chessie.html . Her name comes from one of the mascots of the old Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad from the 1940s. "Sleep like a kitten, and arrive as fresh as a daisy." They were featured in the railroad's advertisements for many years. (Chessie even stayed at home with the kittens, while Peake went off to war.)
Also, I want to put to rest rumors that Chessie is spoiled. She is NOT. She deserves all of the attention she gets! ;-)
Anyway, on to my question. I've seen a couple of Tiffany-style hanging lamps, with cats on them. It's generally been in restaurants like TGI Fridays. I called some of the lighting places around here, hoping that one would be able to order a lamp like that. No luck with any of them. One said he remembered seeing them somewhere, but couldn't find anything in his catalogs.
I also did a Google search, but didn't find anything. I'd like to get one for my wife for Christmas, but can't seem to find any.
Does anyone know of a place that might have these?
Thanks for your time!

Sorry not able to help with the lamp question.

It gets even better. I tracked down the company that makes them, and found out that they can be customized for color. So, the cat can be black & white, like Chessie! They also gave me the name of a local supplier who would be willing to do the special order.
Karen and Steve, thanks for your nice comments about Chessie. She's such a love. (In fact, she just jumped up on my lap now!) She sleeps with us, eats with us, and just has to be with us all the time! She's got bunny-soft fur, too. We couldn't have asked for a better cat.
I knew this was the right place to come. Thanks so much for your help!
Peter

Peter King - 26 Nov 2003 19:46 GMT > Yes she IS cute -- also well fed and comfortable -- a contented kitty. > MLB Well fed is an understatement! When she was in the shelter, she developed a nasty case of gingivitis. On top of having to compete with 300 cats for food, her mouth was too sore to eat. After a long course of antibiotics, and removal of 2 teeth, it cleared up. She was 6.5 pounds when we got her, now 12.5 pounds! We have to watch her intake now, but she still gets treats that she shouldn't!

Sorry I can't help with the lamp. I even searched on eBay for you but found nothing like what you describe.

Yes, I liked that black spot from the beginning. She's got one on her front leg, too. In fact, my wife calls her "cow legs"! She has a collar with black & white cows on it.

Glad you found out where to get the tiffany lamps with cats on them. I did notice those last time I was in TGIF's.

badwilson - 26 Nov 2003 03:44 GMT Chessie is very cute :-) I'd offer to custom make you a lamp (I do stained glass work), but unfortunately where I'm living I can't get any coloured glass, so I've had to put this hobby on hold for a few years. I'm glad that Debbie found some links for you, I'm going to save the pictures of the lamps and make one for myself one day when we move away from Thailand. -- Britta onqjvyfba@lnubb.pbz ROT13 to reply Check out pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on Vino and "friends" album

Last night, before dinner, my wife was watching QVC, or one of the other shopping channels. They had Tiffany lamps on. She said, "Oh, I want a Tiffany lamp with cats!"
Looks like I had a good idea.

Peter King - 30 Dec 2003 00:13 GMT To follow up on this thread from last month:
My wife was absolutely THRILLED with the idea of a Tiffany lamp with cats! We are going tomorrow to look at glass samples, and place the order.
Thanks again for the help, and the wonderful comments about Chessie. You guys are the greatest!
