Last night, I was walking from office to bedroom when she attacked my
foot. I screamed so loudly that DH came running, worried I'd
seriously injured myself. This morning, I see three slashes on my
foot. Last night I only remember a pinprick.
Then this morning, she came to me, purring and headbutting for more pets
whenever I stopped. Then all of a sudden she bit me (lightly, no marks)
and backed off. Of course, I was half asleep, so when she stopped
purring, I saw the hyper-alert look in her eyes, but wasn't conscious
enough yet to stop myself from doing something stupid. I just put my
hand in front of her, to see if she wanted to approach me ... and she
yowled and grabbed my hand. I have at least four scratches and several
pinpricks on my hand.
Stupid cat. I told her she's lucky if she gets fed, but of course
I'll feed her.
I guess I should count my blessings; it's been so long since she went
nuts that I forgot she has a history of doing so. And she doesn't dig
deep; the scratches are all superficial. But still. It's just plain
rude. Bite the hand that feeds you, indeed.

Harvey tends to get like that to, But he does what we call the "set
up".
He will come to you for snuggles and lovings and then suddenly he
attacks. Then he lets you pet him somemore and attacks again. Its so
funny.

Rexie does something like that, Monique. I'm referring to what you said about
"the hyper-alert look in her eyes". We'll be playing, kind of rough. His ears
will perk up and his eyes focus to a pinprick. I'll pull away, but even if I
remain still, he'll pounce . . . and when he does, it's like he's out to kill
prey! The vet says it's because he's feral. If he makes contact I kind of flick
his nose or ear, and sometimes that brings him down, but I'd hate to be a mouse
if Rex ever decided he didn't like it!
