We are getting disaster aid from the UK-- but we have also been
offered help by Bangladesh, and wait for it-- the government
Afghanistan!!!!!
Talk about humbling.
Times like this remind us of the worst of human nature, but the best
is also limitless.

I know...Cuba is offering doctors and medical personel as well. A
shame that it takes such a great hardship to cause countries to work
together on something!

Some say "why don't they help at home." I answer that it will build
bonds and mutual respect -- and people from some of the poorest
countries may know more than some of our teams about how to improvise in
primitive conditions. Bangladesh has had to deal with LOTS of floods.

What humbled me was seein Condoleeza Rice announce that SriLanka has offered
aid - when they are still recovering from December's tsunami...

Wow! God bless them! God bless the other countries who've offered
assistance, too. But may the countries that are offering help, despite the
hardships that they themselves are suffering, be blessed in particular for
their generosity.
When I hear of things like this, I think, "There's hope for the human race
yet!"

There's about 50+ countries offering aid of various kinds. Then there's

Oh, I thought it related to Harry Potter. I was thinking Slitheren I
guess.

I know there's been water treatment equipment as well as communication
equipment, all packed in planes, ready to go, sitting at an airport here in
Sweden since the weekend ... waiting - apparently there are no possibilities
to receive the planes and the equipment at the moment? Or this stuff is just
not needed ...

I can't believe it's not needed. They're probably just not well
organized enough at this end to receive it. What a nightmare.

My guess, right now the people have been evacuated to places where there is
water treatment and communication equipment available. They want and need
to go back home if they can. What you have ready will be needed more as we
try to go back into the areas where that has been destroyed.

Water treatment equipment is more likely to be needed than
communications. European and North American communications equipment are
often built to different standards and, unless consciously designed as
dual-mode, may not work together.

Canada has sent warships carrying supplies. Red Cross volunteers from
Canada are already on sites. But as before, I didn't see any of these
mentioned in U.S. news.
