Tinùviel is a gorgeous cat, but I guess you have found out through my
postings... She has a very strong mind, and she can never be forced into
doing anything she doesn't want to do.
She loves playing with me in many different ways, but she likes it a bit
rough most of the time, except when she is resting in my lap...She lays
ther, purring, getting scrithed and having a good time, but there is room
for a little playing there as well.
It goes like this: I put my finger underneath her right paw and starts
pulling. Immediately, she curls her toes (no claws) around my finger (as far
as they can reach) and starts pulling back. It's like some kind of
"finger-paw-wrestling". We can keep it going like that for quite a while,
and she smiles at me all the time. I think she likes the feeling of my
finger and the kind of communication we get through the little "fight".
But it's only her right paw! I've tried to do the same with her left front
paw, but she just takes the paw away... So I guess she is a right-pawed
cat...
Anyway, it is a very nice game for both of us.
I started getting her used to letting me touch her paws in a very early
age...

Charlie plays a bit rough with our cats too, and they love it. It doesn't
hurt for them to learn different things are OK with different people. I
really think a bit of rough play with kittens makes for easier to handle
cats.
Our Sam was also right pawed. He liked to open cupboards and we only had to
put baby locks on half of them.

Mimi loved rough handling. She was a tiny scrap, and she loved to be
rubbed very vigorously. She would jump on the bed at night for what
we called "the nightly beating." She would practically melt in a
puddle of goo, then spring right back up for more. Her favorite was
to be wrapped in a big towel and rubbed through it. What a little
screwball. ;)
Stinky prefers gentler handling.

I love "holding paws" with my cats. Some take to it more
readily than others, but I've been able to get them all to do it
and enjoy it.

Persia came to me already front declawed (don't start, people, wasn't my
doing). She won't let me hold her front paws but she thinks nothing of
holding my hand :) It's so sweet when I feel her paw sneak into my hand as
I'm drifting off to sleep. Or, when she drapes a paw across my wrist and
then the other one sneaks its way under my wrist and suddenly she's hugging
my hand with both front paws. It's enough to make you melt!

Stinky luuuuuuhhhhhvs paw massages. I've never had a cat before who
could stand to have his paws touched, much less massages.
Vino, we all know, luuuuuuuhhhvs paw massages a little *too* much. ;)

ROFL! Geez, I nearly forgot about that. I've been refraining from
touching his rear paws for that very reason. It's just a tad creepy
;-)
