Pat - 01 Sep 2005 17:30 GMT I haven't seen him since Monday night. Starting to get worried, because this is the first time he's done it in quite some time.
Please help purr him home. He has an appointment with TED tomorrow for vaccinations and needs to get home before that!

Purrs that the errant kitty will return soon.

Purrs are on the way for Abelard to get his furry butt home ASAP. Isn't it strange how our masters always seem to know when it's TED time?

You allow your cat to roam outside where he is not safe then repeatedly come in here and ask for "purrs" when he runs away.
I offered you a simple and effective solution to your problems since you cant seem to do it yourself. Stop worrying about "reclaiming the group" and take care of Abelard.

I'll go you one better than that. Why don't *you* move to somewhere your cat is safe outside like Pat's are? And mine too. Abelard likes to have nights/days out, he'll come back in his own time.

Kill-files are a wonderful thing - mine has grown recently!

There is only one way to keep him safe and you know what that is -- face up to it. Purrs that Abelard prefers his happy home to the delights of the "hunt". MLB

In the earlier thread about your other cat being agressive, was Rescue Remedy (Bach's flowers) mentioned? Some folks swear by putting drops in the pets water bowl. At least its fairly cheap and fairly available. Human health food store and such.

Just that a cat owner on another group I participate in happened to mention that it was the only thing that helped with a very irritable cat they used to own. I believe her name was Sadie Monster. We weren't discussing cats so much as herbal remedies as the time.
One of those things where if you try to do a web search you will get altogether too much information and too many sales pitches.
Anyone else here with experience or information on Rescue Remedy?
It would be hard to use here as the cats have so many water source options. Including unfortunately the gutters and the neighbors pools, birdbaths, etc. Also any glass of anything we are trying to drink at the time. If you don't want to share around here, you have to use a water bottle, and you'd best keep the cap on it and carry it around. Any unsupervised container is subject to licking.

If I have eaten my dinner on a lap tray rather than at the table, KFC will lick the plate when I'm finished if she has a chance to. I don't encourage this. Boyfriend wouldn't dream of even trying - far too naughty for such a good boy ;-) Kitty has long given up trying to be good, she thinks an old girl like her should be allowed to do as she likes! And I have to say that mainly she does..and I usually let her. What harm does it do if she's 18? Let her enjoy her last years by being thoroughly indulged.

> Anyone else here with experience or information on Rescue Remedy? I actually have a bottle of the stuff on my desk (someone recommended it for stress relief but I can't get the bottle open which is even more stressful:-))) What would worry me is that it's mostly alcohol so I am not sure it would be wise to give to cats on a regular basis

I hope that Abelard does come back soon! He's such a clever fellow. Betty, on the other hand, is so clueless about TED. When I bring out the carrier, she will often start following me around, looking for comfort - "Daddy, the carrier is out, and it's going to take me to TED! Please hold me and comfort me!" And then I pick her up and put her in the carrier. We just did this today, except I didn't even wait for her to follow me, but just picked her up and put her inside. She cried when she saw the carrier, but was put in without any fuss.

I got Stinky a lovely EXPENSIVE new carrier with mesh sides (acutally very tough nylon mesh). He ripped a hole in it about three minutes after the first time I put him in it. I turned around, and turned back just in time to see his claw-studded paw come shooting out of the hole. He is always such a sweet, even-tempered guy, it always shakes me up to see the hell he raises about being put in the carrier.

He didn't trust me that much then, so I immediately went down in his estimation. He wailed loudly all the way there. The vet said he was very good while he was there. He wailed all the way back. I was worried about him, but he was fine really. He scoffed a small meal down as soon as I let him out of the carrier and he could fly into the kitchen.

She would almost always be in the courtyard sunning herself. Except when she had a TED appointment. Then she would disappear and I would have to call and reschedule. She was a good cat, I miss her.

Lots and lots of get-yerself-home for Abelard; I am betting, though, that he doesn't show until *after* his TED appointment.
